Trump is Made Chair of the Kennedy Center

I am intrigued by your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Couldnt the artists claim sore throat, uable to perform? That should be a valid excuse? Just get a friendly doctor to write a note confirming this? Lots of concerts are being canceled due to the artists bad health arent they?

That happens, but most event venues and/or promoters would carry “event cancellation insurance” that would indemnify them if a performer had to back out at the last minute for whatever reason. Mick Jagger suffers a sudden illness that prevents the Stones from performing at Madison Square Garden tonight? Event cancellation insurance will refund all sold tickets, plus other costs incurred by the cancellation.

If the Kennedy Centre had such, as I’m sure it did, then they are out nothing, and have no basis for a lawsuit.

When has Trump ever needed a legitimate reason to sue someone?

@Spoons , would event cancellation insurance cover reputational damage? Would they still be able to make a claim that the very public cancellation, not for inability to perform but for political reasons, damaged their reputation as a reliable performing arts centre, and that damage isn’t covered by cancellation insurance?

(Yeah, yeah, damaging Trump’s reputation — work with me here. )

That kind of defeats the purpose of their protest. I think the whole point is to make a statement, not an excluse.

How 'bout if they cancel due to bone spurs?

That’s a perfectly valid point as Trump considers his “reputation” damaged at the slightest provocation. Hence his tirades against Jimmy Kimmel, Steven Colbert, and the utterly reprehensible insults against Rob Reiner after his death, which was a new low even for Trump. It absolutely would be in character for him, after all the damage he’s done to the Kennedy Center, to embroil it in a series of vindictive and pathetic lawsuits against leading artists.

I don’t think so. It’s designed to cover things that can be proven, such as are listed on an invoice or receipt. So such coverage would pay the refund for tickets that have already been sold, concession items that have been purchased for the event, the costs of staff (e.g. janitors, lighting technicians, etc.) who have prepared the venue for the event, and similar.

“Reputation” wouldn’t be a dollar figure on an invoice or receipt; therefore, I doubt that event cancellation insurance would cover it.

Grenell’s gonna have to sue a lot of people at this rate.

Honestly, I didn’t see this one coming…

Trump retweets anything that he thinks flatters him. Lately he’s even been retweeting a Taiwanese bot account impersonating his press secretary.

It’s come out that the the bylaws were changed earlier this year to specify that the only people who could vote on issues, like renaming, were people that Trump appointed to the board.

Trump retweeted a video suggesting that the Kennedy name be removed from the Kennedy Center.

Kelly is doing cabinet secretary level of sucking:

We have to have an honest conversation about the 35th president of the United States.”

This is of course the context:

Hit them when weakened.

Looks like it’s more than a name change. The grifting started last spring;

In America it’s only looting if you’re black.

I wonder if Grenell has filed any of those lawsuits yet.
