Trump is not a bad person, make an effort to like him.

By “propaganda, fear-mongering and lies” do you mean playing recordings of Trump’s own words?

Maybe he was trolling the editor. I am not sure. everyone has bad moments in life. No one is perfect.

Many insults have been thrown at him during campaign. He has managed the campaign largely gracefully.

We have a new President. It’s time to come together and support our new leader. We don’t really know what the future holds.

Let’s give Trump a chance. See what programs he actually tries to enact.

Guys, the only reason the OP supports Trump’s is that Trump hates Muslims. All the rest is just bullshit.

As gracefully as a three-legged elephant trying to learn how to tap dance.

Lets see…Trump is a proponent for xenophobia, sexism, protectionism, vindictiveness, warmongering and bigotry.

While he is my POTUS elect I do not need to concede these facts.

I am guessing your definition of what makes someone a “bad person” and mine do not share many common data points.

Not that he is to blame for the election results; that blame fully on the Democratic elite whom chose to push an anointed one despite the obvious issues.

But I will focus my efforts on getting those short sighted nepotistic idiots removed from the party’s power structure. But as a middle aged white male I don’t have to live in the fear that is very very real for people whom were forced into a less advantageous position purely due to which sperm fertilized their egg.

I love and respect Muslims at individual level just as I love non-Muslims. I oppose blanket ban on Muslims’ entry.

Wow. I suspect this OP is sarcasm or trolling.

I think its high time for liberals to define what “hating Muslims” is vs. opposing the spread of Islam in America and its consequent effects as well as the terror that too often DOES emanate in its name. America just repudiated the knee-jerk “nothing to do with Islam.”

Things are also about relative attractiveness…so if attractiveness of the US (of green card, of USD etc) goes down, the attractiveness of rest of the world automatically goes up…This is a good thing for the world at large imo.

Also, don’t worry about recession. That will be temporary if at all.

What are the “consequent effects”? Something like you have to share the bus with someone whom prays to a different book revision of a shared god?

As for terror, that is confirmation bias on your part because radical christians are the largest source of terrorist attacks in the US.

Why are people whom belong to another abrahamic sect more culpable than christians?

Justify your special pleading.

while there are some crazies who wouldn’t share a bus with a Muslim, most of the people who oppose Syrian refugees, support Israel strongly, or want the most common brand of terrorism called by its name, Radical Islamic Terrorism, don’t hate Muslims anymore than your average liberal hates Evangelical or Mormon people.

While I don’t think every individual Muslim is culpable, people have misgivings about Islam BECAUSE COUNTRIES ON EVERY CONTINENT ARE NOT SPENDING BILLIONS TO FIGHT AMISH TERRORISM, CATHOLIC TERRORISM, JEWISH HASSIDIC TERRORISM, ETC.!! Get it in your effin heads.

You still didn’t justify why Syrian refugees are worse, especially under the current vetting process.

If you ignore the cost of Northern Ireland, US DHS and law enforcement expenditures etc…

Are you confusing wars with terrorism? Or are you just selecting those wars based on a narrow time slice that fits your preconceived ideas?

Because the proxy wars that were used as theaters of conflict for the superpowers during the cold war were insanely expensive.

How about the costs of the drug wars, which are primarily due to the US enforcing protestant moralities across the globe?

Or how about ignoring the fact that Afghanistan were destabilized due to both of those two previous efforts.

You can capitalize as much as you want, and you can repeat the propaganda that is born from these xenophobic policies.

But it doesn’t take much effort to realize that the people fighting over there view themselves as on Luke Skywalkers side, and you are the Empire.

But that is the problem in general, it is really hard to hate people if you can’t assign an attribution error, and Trump is one of the main criers of that rhetoric.

…I don’t think you know anything about politics or foreign relations or world affairs.

Or economics.

I disagree with the OP. I feel that in addition to the fact that he will be a bad President, Trump is a bad person.

Do not accuse other posters of trolling outside The BBQ Pit.

You are providing a description of Trump that is directly counter to everything he has ever said or done. You are predicting that he will turn his personality 180°.
That is an interesting take on reality.

“He will now be nice to his opponents as well.” Are you kidding? He has never once been nice to an opponent in his life.

“he is an honest … person” Are you kidding? He was BY FAR the least honest person of all the candidates for president.

“Please make an effort to see the positives in him…” I have seen not one single positive in him. I have detested 100% of everything he has said and done.

You can feel about him however you want. But some of those statements make no sense to me.

Let’s stop being coy. We’re all well acquainted with the Trump of whom the OP speaks. The intellectual, erudite to the point of bookishness. The thoughtful, measured orator. The generous philanthropist. The devoted husband. The young stallion in peak physical condition, buff, athletic, devilishly handsome and sporting a fully natural, not-at-all-weird-looking head of raven-black hair.

I can give him a chance as a president, but he’s had enough chances that I can confidently claim that he is a loathsome human being. Hopefully there can be a divergence between the man and the job.
