Because from his point of view, a world where the USA is actually IN decline (as opposed the the world which the soi-disant “honest” Donald Trump was so insistent is in decline), is a good thing.
He was kind of clear on that over the summer.

Correction: he hires them. Whether he pays them is a bit of a crapshoot…
He probably thinks he learned everything there is to know about being POTUS from watching Love, Actually…

A. Lot. Two words.
You have a gift for understatement that borders on genius.
I know. Couldn’t edit the post in time.
If Trump declares America as an Empire, and then starts building a large moon-shaped super-weapon, well, don’t be surprised.
Mr. Trump, if you’re reading this in the future…I volunteer to harass these nerds with my moderator privileges as an olive branch to you following your acquisition of the Chicago Reader.
As mentioned many times before, Personnel is Policy.
Now we know that the most important people Trump is choosing are the insider Reince Priebus (No swamp to drain here!) and Breitbart Bannon (Lets defend the confederate flag!).
4 years of Trump listening to the worst angels of his nature. It is like having the “let them eat cake” dark angel on his left shoulder and the racist and bigoted talking ideas coming from the even darkest angel on his right shoulder.
If there was any notion that Trump would reform his act after the election, hiring Bannon pretty much puts paid to that. It was bad enough that Trump hired Bannon for his campaign, but now he’ll be in the West Wing. A guy who didn’t even want his daughter in the same classroom as Jews.
My father was Jewish. Much as I wish he were still in this world, I’m glad he didn’t live to see this day.
And it’s so bizarre, given Trump’s favorite, Ivanka’s, conversion to Judaism for her Jewish husband and prominent Trump advisor, Jared Kushner. I don’t know how these power centers co-exist in the Trump universe.
Trump, who is a very, very bad and dishonest person, can go fuck himself.
It’s a common feature of bigots to make exceptions for individuals they personally know and like.
Anyhow, the title of this thread pisses me off. Trump IS a bad person by my ethics and moral standards. And no, I don’t have to make an effort to like him. I don’t like him and find him repulsive as a person. Even if by some miracles he does things that wind up a positive for the nation and/or the world I still have no obligation to like him as a person.
I have personally liked people who lacked ethics and morality. I wasn’t dumb enough to trust them.
Trump doesn’t have a view on Islamic extremism; he has a view against Muslims, all Muslims. How did you miss that tidbit this Election?
Trump, the bankrupt, is the last person I would even consider taking economic advice from.
But you’re okay with Trump’s vicious propaganda, fear-mongering, and lies, along with those of his cabinet and staff appointees, right?
eh truthSeeker2 duuuuuuuude…
got a little gift for ya

just in case…I dunno…you might wanna defend yourself, or anything. (since I don’t feel comfortable dissing folks behind their backs)
Because he’s an Indian, living in India. He doesn’t realize that legitimizing anti-Islamic bigotry isn’t going to stop with Muslims being attacked and discriminated against. Once you open that door, it eventually becomes open season on all the “others.”
truthseeker, Hindu and Sikh homes smell like turmeric, too, and we all pretty much look alike to many Americans.
If your concern is really for dead Syrians, fair enough. I find that rather hard to believe though, especially since there is about zero chance that Trump’s policies will result in any reduction in Syrian deaths.
