There’s no downside for Trump in doing shit like that; his fans certainly don’t care if he makes stuff up (via his friend the head of the National Enquirer or via any other means). They see it as ‘tweaking the Establishment’ and they love him all the more for it.
]Trump and the National Enquirer CEO apparently go way back. So this really isn’t all that surprising. Until November I expect to be blasted by non-stop anti-Hillary headlines any time I’m waiting in line at the checkout. The Enquirer is basically Trumps unofficial super PAC, with the difference that there is no law against coordination.
Good, anything that destroys or undermines Ted Cruz is a net benefit to the Republic and her citizenry.

Well, yes and no. Cruz’s ambition should die of its own weight and for honest reasons. There are more than enough.
As a side note, I don’t know whether his father was involved in the JFK plot or not. Either way, Ted’s not responsible for the sins of his father.

And even better - trump responded to Cruz’s response saying that it proved Ted Cruz didn’t have the “Temperment” to be president.
I just think I’m dreaming and any moment I’ll wake up and realize the last 5 months or so have been a bad dream.
It’s mostly because the Dope has a large number of Sanders supporters, so I don’t feel the need to post the same thing as them. If you don’t believe me, feel free to ask for my stance on say immigration or torture to see whether my stance is closer to the man from Brooklyn or Queens.

It’s astonishing. Citing national enquirer and he still wins Indiana. People heard that and still went out and voted for him.
I love it. Cruz’s dad tells everyone that God wants you to vote for his son and Trump could destroy America. Do you have a response Mr Trump? Oh fucking right he does and it’s even crazier!
All the headlines I’ve seen about the incident say that Cruz responded by “going ballistic”. But I saw the speech he made in response, and I was actually impressed by how calm he was about it. I mean, yes, he did say that Trump was a pathological liar, but really, that’s the only sane, rational response to something that absurd.
The downside is waiting for him in the general, although he’s already proven his propensity to say anything regardless of its level of truth, so I guess he can’t hurt himself any more. It’s one thing to have a plurality of Republicans, especially when many of those are as easily deluded and led by the hand as your average dog, and completely another to run up against all those who he’s vilified for his core’s amusement, who weren’t going to vote for him no matter what he said.
