Or maybe the league thinks peaceful protesting is just fine and in keeping with American traditions (because it is). It’s nuts that peacefully protesting is pissing so many people off. How can they protest if not peacefully in this way?

I don’t think it even matters how the league feels. The rules of the NFL are (AFAIK) part of a collective bargaining agreement. It would be a violation of federal law to fire a player for conduct not prohibited by that agreement.

In the first place, one generally needs to experience something (such as being consistently wrong) before one can get tired of it. We haven’t (experienced it) so we haven’t (grown tired of it).

Additionally, for an American citizen, at least, it is far better to be a Trump-hater than an America-hater, as Trump himself is (and as I’m beginning to suspect, you may be).

Sunday was too beautiful a day to be indoors watching football. But, at 1 pm EST I posted a picture on Facebook of me and a bunch of friends “taking a knee”.

I don’t think this is accurate. AFAIK, collective bargaining means that the law doesn’t really apply; what matters is what’s in the contract. So IIUC the scenario you outlined wouldn’t violate federal law, it would violate the contract that the two parties agreed upon.

I have had the NLRB tell me that the contract takes precedence over the law and there is no requirement that CBAs have to conform to all labor laws.

By the way, apparently what pissed off so many of the NFL players was the “son of a bitch” line; Trump insulting all their mothers was just too much for them.

Nobody misunderstands the kneeling. Well, except the Republican President, of course, but you have to budget for that.

This started with a black man boycotting the National Anthem trying to bring attention to the racial injustice of police killing black men and getting off scott-free. Conservatives are terrified of black men trying to address racial injustice so the Fox News crowd re-framed it as “Black man disrespects the Flag and Troops”.

If there’s any misunderstanding go on, it’s because conservatives are lying about the protests. But I guess we got to budget for that, too.
