Trump makes major announcement December 15. What is it? {Just digital trading cards of Trump}

Trump supporters live on skidmark row

… looks at above …

It’s 330am, I shouldn’t be on here. Good night.

They’re selling postcards of Pence’s hanging,
They’re painting the passports brown…

The worst part is, even as they slowly realize things about Trump that the rest of us have known all along, it still doesn’t prompt them to question any of the other stupid shit they’ve fallen for. They’re still all aboard for DeSantis, Kanye, and all their stupid shit.

On the “Trump Superhero” ones, I saw, “The Man of Steal”.

Somewhere upthread (or was it another?) someone had (typo or intentional?) “schandenfreude”, which would roughly translate as “shame-joy”, and would fit the bill… if the person concerned had any sense of shame.

If it finally makes his base scratch their heads and reconsider their support, then clearly this was:

A Grift Too Far

Y’know, at least Melania’s NFT had some pretense of being an actual drawing.

Well, sure… “One of this days, someone has GOT to be THE one that is for real and WILL do right by us!” You’d be asking them to question what is it that they need “done right” by them. They are convinced that the solution to the system screwing them over is for someone to come and just DO it… whatever “it” is as they are themselves not too sure… or to start, just knock over the table so that, if their own lot does not improve, at least everyone else is forced to eat the same shit sandwich as they as the rebuilding takes place.

(probably including people who just got tired of waiting for Jesus to Himself-Ex-Machina come down and administer Justice to the deserving in time for them to see it happen… )

Sorry, you waited too long.

It was widely derided, yes, but did any of us think it wouldn’t sell? The dude got over 60 million votes, it’s not surprising that 0.075% of those people are this stupid.

Assuming it’s MAGAs and not, say, foreign entities laundering money or making illegal contributions.

I don’t discount the money laundering angle, but if that were the case, I would assume the price would be much higher. The total revenue of $4.5M is not really all that much relatively speaking. The $99 price seems aimed more at the general population rather than bigwigs. If Trump was doing this as a scheme to line his pockets with laundered money, it seems like it would have been structured differently to have a higher total revenue. Or not have a cap on the number of copies or number of cards. Rather than capping the number of copies of a card to 20, don’t have a limit and let people buy as many of a particular card as they like. And create endless cards using computer-generated tweaks. It seems like things like that would be more in line with a money laundering scheme.

Well, damn! <tears up Christmas list>

Yeah, but the price would have to be believable. As I said above, it’s not surprising that a tiny fraction of MAGAts would buy into this, but it’s also well known that the hardest-core MAGAts aren’t swimming in money.

As I also said above, now that this first part has apparently sold out, wait for his next big announcement where he “responds to the overwhelming demand” by introducing a new set of cards. If it is money laundering, that cycle will never end.

That would be the spin cycle, amirite? Hehe.

Here’s a secondary market site for those who want to buy, sell and trade Trump cards.

You will see that they have images of Trump, mostly in his trademark suit but sometimes in other outfits. There are a couple of different hand positions, then they mix and match other props, such as hats and sports equipment in front of different backgrounds, which is how they come up with so many “unique” designs.

For example, one card might have Trump in a suit with a MAGA hat, holding a football against a background of gold bars. Then the next card might be the same image with the background being Trump Tower and the hat changed to a cowboy hat.

I haven’t seen any super hero ones yet, I’m guessing that people are hanging on to the good ones and selling the boring ones.

Sold out in 12 hours? That means the money was lined up before it was started, I suppose. I have a difficult time imagining many marks dropping money on something like this (@ $99 a pop) without a day or two thinking about it. Maybe there are that many people out there with more money than brains (but I think they’d be running out of money, soon).

One question I have with these “Trading Cards” is, can you actually trade them? Back in the day, when I was a kid, they had NFL/AFL trading cards. All the kids at school were getting them. You’d get something like 5 random cards in a pack, with a random player on each one. Some kids would try to get, say, all the quarterbacks. Others would try and fill out their favorite team. Mostly, though, kids were trying to build All-Star rosters on who they thought should be on their team. There was a fair amount of trading going on.

As far as I can tell, though, these things can’t be traded, only sold. Is that correct? If I wanted to trade, say, Two SuperHero Trumps with Red Background for one TuxedoTrump with a Gold Background, is there any way to do that as a even-up trade, no money changing hands?

Is anything stopping him from just doing the same scam again, with slightly different cards?

What, like some kind of trump card?

In Canada, it was mostly hockey cards. I remember kids would have a stack of cards they were willing to trade away, and other kids would skim through the stacks, saying, “Got it, got it, need it, got it, need it…” as they figured out what trades to make.

Now I imagine some middle-aged, middle class MAGAt doing the same thing, except he’s on a cheap computer in the basement paging through a website, and if you saw him, you’d think he was watching porn.

Only his sense of personal integrity.
