I really don’t like President Trump, but the reality is that he’s POTUS now. Until he quits or is forced to leave office, he’s “THE HEAD HONCHO.”
I’m already tired of both the “Pro” and “Con” sides here. I don’t want to see threads about how “awesome” or “evil” he is, because most have already made up their minds here.
Can we get a sub-forum in somewhere (maybe Elections) about Trump?
That would clear a lot of space in the SDMB for actual discourse about things factual and/or informative, without seeing “TRUMP” in every second thread title.
I think this is a good idea. It would have to be “Trump and the Trump administration” so stuff about his family, cabinet picks, Congress, could all go there-- things tangentially related to him. It’s hard to know where to post stuff about him any more.
This may be the best worded and thought out version of the New Forum suggestions I’ve seen; easily changed (I hope) in four years to match the next administration. Not a bad idea all in all.

The answer was no then. I don’t suppose it’s changed since.

Moving existing threads can be done at leisure. At the moment the entire forum looks like A Festschrift for President Trump.
You’d have to have 2 forums, one being a Trump BBQ Pit. Otherwise there are going to be some rules issues.
But I’m going to weigh in on the “not a good idea” side. As much as I agree that the proliferation of Trump threads (many of which are just plain stupid), I’m afraid too many threads would be shuffled off to those forums since so many topics and issues are going to intersect into the Trump-o-sphere.
Things are pretty bad in the Elections Forum, though, and I wouldn’t be averse to the mods simply closing threads that don’t belong there. If you really want to discuss this idea, put the effort into figuring our which forum it belongs in. Feel free to start another thread in the correct forum.
The problem is, considering the kind of president he is, so many subjects revolve around Trump or his policies. Not just politics, but economics, taxation, minority rights, war, religion, sociopathy, etc. Do you want to remove these subjects from other forums? Bad idea. If you don’t want to read threads about Trump (and 95% of the time I don’t either), then don’t read them.
Given that this thread discussed the same issue only a week ago, I’m going to close this and direct any further discussion to that thread.
