Trump/Palin, the winning ticket for 2024

Trump’s backing of Palin’s resurgent House bid is causing speculation for a Trump/Palin ticket in 2024.

Trump/Palin is probably the best possible combo for a winning ticket. It avoids any talk of issues or platform because it’s an appeal to a market. No politics or party loyalty involved, just blatant marketing. They might even get Walker to do a ‘Dynomite’ ad. Also, there is no tension between candidates as there would be with Cruz, Desantis or Pence. Because neither one has the skill to be president and both totally lack positions and strategies. Nothing to argue.

A Trump/Palin ticket will suck the oxygen out of any rational opposition. It will dominate the media and draw record crowds. It is by far the dumbest, most batshit thing that could happen to US politics.

A sure winner.

So very sadly true.
My friends and neighbors would eat that up.

But it seems to me that the ones who would eat it up would vote for Trump regardless. And they are already rabidly motivated. You don’t need to go “Trump squared” to get them to vote for him.

He’d only pick her on the off-chance she might agree to sleep with him. For Trump’s motivation, just pick the lowest denominator and then subtract ten.

Seriously, the two of them together sounds like a remake of “Dumb and Dumber”.

For the Electoral Vote you need turn out in sparsely populated states. The point is not to convince anybody. The point is to turn out huge, raucous crowds that give the appearance of overwhelming support.

more like “Dumbest and – Oh My god, Maybe Not – Arrrgh

Some, yes. But many others became so fed up with him (and just Thursday I had a two hour conversation with a good friend and life long Republican who just could not vote for Trump in 2020 after, as he described it: “Holding his nose and voting for him in 2016”) who need more enticement. Palin’s outspoken Evangelical faith and maverickness might do it for him and his household. (And yes, they pray over their ballots and vote as a block because God will lead this nation founded upon His will.)

Here is another article on the topic I happened to have read this morning before even logging on to SDMB:

As bad as she is, the leading male Republican candidate is pretty bad also. Nick Begich III - whose father is rolling in his grave, and whose brothers wish he would change his name - is a far-rightie evangelical asshole. The difference between the two is that Begich has a brain instead of a vacuum between his ears and so is smart enough to know how to push his agenda among the mindless.

The tricky part would be figuring out which of them is which.

Not an asset. Attempting to make an argument to the dull witted is a loser. ‘If you’re explaining you’re not gaining’. Better to go off blithering about some familiar trope. God’s open doors, corrupt Dems, moose chile - stuff like that.

She’s way past his acceptable sell-by date.

A person with NPD will accept any homage to his ego.

I think this pair would get absolutely destroyed. Trump was already unpopular before Jan 6. Palin is very unpopular. You can’t win a national election with just the brain-dead base. This ticket abandons any pretense of seriousness.

The only way it could win is if SCOTUS says state legislatures can just pick the Republican no matter what. In which case any ticket would win.

Depends on the competition. Against Biden/Harris in Red states they don’t need any help from legislatures. They won’t get the popular vote, but they don’t need that either.

Who could beat them?

Yes, that is what I was referencing.

The problem for Republicans with this ticket is they can’t just turn off white male privilege when it suits their current interests.

I remember back in 2008 hearing a few on my right wing co-workers saying how disappointed they were when McCain picked Palin as his running mate. They had been fine with McCain up until that point. But didn’t he see the danger? What if he died and suddenly we were stuck with a woman as President? That was unthinkable!

Obviously they weren’t going to vote for a Black Muslim either. But a lot of them stayed home on Election Day. You just can’t trust politicians, even the ones who seem okay.

A blast from the past from the NY Daily News, who pull no punches.

It would be fun if they asked her to reminisce about McCain. She’d have to dial down any positivity, knowing shit gibbon would be listening.

You’re co-workers were serious, well meaning voters. Twenty years has changed the market. Now it’s a matter of crazy wins.

What’s crazier than Trump/Palin?
