Not only the FBI but perhaps also the Secret Service. Perhaps Presidential protection methods haven’t changed all that much since (because to a certain degree they can’t really) and perhaps these files would offer a would-be assassin some crucial information that isn’t currently public knowledge. I am of course not advocating for such a thing, just pointing out that it is a good example of that fence metaphor (edit: Chesterton’s Fence) I have seen around here lately where if there is a certain value of fence, it exists for a good reason that might not be readily apparent to a casual observer. Trump just hates fences (well, except for one in particular) and he’s tearing down everything he can without regard to potential consequences.

Nearly half the country are CT’s by what this board calls CT’s now. That’s why they believe Jan 6 was not an insurrection but just peaceful protests and that it was federal agents that did the violence. That’s why Trump is always floating some kind of CT. It’s all blowback from the 9/11 lies.
I use nearly half but to be fair it’s 49.9% of voters at least.
Trump does not get elected twice without 9/11. PNAC could not predict the blowback in the late '90’s when it was planned.
To explain it better, the 9/11 official story is a lie, and the story Maga tries to promote about Jan 6 is also a lie. They are both lies, and have basically destroyed the U.S.
I can see that both the official 9/11 story and the Maga Jan 6 story are lies, you are picking and choosing just like Maga does.
That is why nothing was released about 9/11, and we all know why the Epstein files won’t be released.

What’s the angle behind this stunt? Future bragging rights? Uncovering a 62 yrd old ‘Deep State’ secret? An attempt to distract from the latest disaster?
I’m pretty removed from this issue, so maybe it’s more meaningful to more people than I realize. It just seems odd timing, odd priority and frankly, a blatant performance.
While it is a stunt and a performance these files were meant to have been released 12 years ago. I’d be surprised if the real files even exist intact anymore, because they very well could implicate Russia in the assassination attempt. I think Trump wants to show that those white Russians were not involved and that it was those brown Cuban people that tried to kill an American President .
