In 1947, the United States made a deal with an extraterrestrial power. In exchange for allowing these “Greys” to experiment on US citizens, the government was presented with real time intelligence on Soviet assets and continued access to the crashed ship in Roswell.
Too bad they didn’t use it.
I was in high school when Kennedy was assassinated, and it’s impossible to convey what an earth-shaking event this was in the United States of 1963 to anyone who wasn’t alive and sentient when it happened. Suffice it to say that the possibility of domestic terrorism wasn’t something commonplace that permeated the news and that we took for granted. For one example, back then you didn’t walk through a metal detector to board an airplane, enter your school, or visit the courthouse.
There are plenty of people who are still interested or at least curious to learn whatever there is to learn about the events of November 22. I don’t expect anything surprising to come out of the newly released documents, but I will be following the stories. I don’t believe Russia or LBJ had anything to do with it.
My belief is that although there is a deeper truth behind the Kennedy assassination, that truth is not going to be in any of those released documents. I don’t believe that Oswald was just a kook acting on his own initiative, but I also think that what really happened Is not known to the government and will probably never be known. It’s just like UFO conspiracy theories – the idea that the government is hiding deep dark secrets is just naive. My own pet theory is that Castro and the Mafia were both involved but we’ll likely never know and this isn’t the thread for that discussion.
The idea that the gvt is hiding deep dark secrets that will change the world - and will also release them ‘this time’ is what is hilarious to me.
Bread and circuses. Keep the plebs distracted.
The fact that the thousands of pages of declassified information will contain no new information on who or what motivated Oswald can be deduced from the simple fact that after the info was declassified, no one from the government said anything. Because there was nothing to say.
My understanding is that the info was originally classified to avoid revealing information related to national security, and because it might have embarrassed certain individuals. On the matter of what was truly behind the Kennedy assassination, if there were powers behind Oswald using him as a convenient dupe, the government knows as little about it as we do.
My personal belief (you may point and laugh if you want) is that the original architect was Castro, who had a visceral hatred for Kennedy especially after the Bay of Pigs. It’s plausible that he enlisted the Mafia to do the deed, which also hated Kennedy because they felt betrayed, having mobilized unions to help him get elected, and then endured a federal crackdown under RFK as AG. Castro may even have known about and suggested Oswald as a useful idiot for this mission, arising from Oswald’s contacts with a Cuban embassy in an effort to get into the country. And Oswald’s assassin, Jack Ruby, had Mafia connections and was probably coerced into killing him likely without even knowing why. Hey, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
Russia. Russia. Russia. I say, pulling the strings of both. But we will never know.
Castro hated the Mafia because they ran the gambling, prostitution, drugs pre-revolution. I could see it being one of them but not both together.
I don’t think it’s implausible for Castro to have opportunistically used a group that he hated simply for reasons of principle to go after Kennedy, who he hated much more for actually trying to overthrow his government in a violent coup and kill him.
IMHO they could release Lee Harvey Oswald’s hand-written diary which they found along with his rifle in the shooter’s nest, in which Oswald details every grievance and half-baked scheme he ever came up with, recounting the story of rejection by Cuba, the Russians, the Mafia, LBJ, the CIA, the John Birch Society, the American Communist Party, the KKK, et al, a Polaroid photo selfie taken moments before the shooting, and his complete minute-by-minute plans to shoot Kennedy, and there will be scores of CT wingnuts screaming, “That’s not the whole story!”
What? No Sinatra?
Yeah, that happens a lot.
The documents are posted. AI can gobble those PDFs up and spit out query results fairly quickly. Anything groundbreaking yet?
Remember that evidence is evidence, and lack of evidence is evidence.
I think this will backfire on Trump.
The dedicated conspiracy nuts are never going to be dissuaded by any amount of evidence. They’re convinced they know the truth.
So what happens when Trump opens the files and the conspiracy nuts don’t see the proof they expect? Will they finally admit they’ve been wrong all along? No.
They will feel the only possible explanation for the files not containing what they want to see is that Trump is hiding the real files. So they will add Trump’s name to the list of people who are involved in the cover-up.
They blame Biden for destroying the incriminating information before Trump could release it.
No-the only thing they will take from that is that Trump’s opponents are hiding the evidence. Trump has perfected the “Credit goes here-Blame goes there” defense.
