Trump Splashback Hits Bush

And I would just like to welcome DSYoungEsq back to the boards!

What the fuck is wrong with the women in the red states?

Probably a higher concentration of married, older and religious white women. The bigger question is what the fuck is wrong with white men.

Trump is a white man, surely his bullshit is not going to target them!

Woman don’t have this excuse. Trump has not shown one religious or conservative bone in his body. There are 12 states that contain more woman who would rather vote for a sex offending man than an actual woman.

There are far more women showing up on my Facebook page who support Trump than there are men. And one of the most passionate female Tump supporters I’ve met personally is a gay woman still in her 30s.

Thanks! Retired now, so waaaaaaaay too much time on my hands.

It is incorrect to assume that reasonable people, especially reasonable <insert group offended by Mr. Trump here> cannot support the Republican nominee without being insane. Many people support him because they think his words are just words, and expect his actions to be much more benign. Your experience underlines this fact.

Sadly, a lot of people who oppose him cannot conceive of this being possible. The rabid partisanship with which politics is approached these days appears incompatible with the idea that reasonable people can form differing opinions without being blithering idiots. <sigh>

You’re forgetting that many evangelicals are single-issue voters. I live in one of those red states and I know many women who would sooner cut their arm off than vote for anyone pro-choice. And it doesn’t matter to them what Trump’s views on abortion were in the past - all that matters is that Hillary Clinton wants to kill babies.

He is a dedicated and passionate devotee of Mammon.

Yes, but can one honestly think Trump is pro-life? While there is much to hate about the man, I can take some comfort in the fact is is probably not opposed to LGBT rights, reproductive rights, or immigration reform. I think he’s basically a New York liberal at heart, and most of his campaign positions are a sham.

Getting back to the actual subject of this thread, Billy Bush, he will not return as co-host of NBC’s “Today” show. The question is not whether Bush will leave the network, but when.

of course I don’t think Trump is really pro-life. But he has vowed to put a conservative on the Supreme Court, so you can see how that might make a difference to someone whose #1 goal is overturning Roe v Wade.

As one comedian (possibly Colbert) pointed out, we have stronger requirements to host the third hour of the Today show than to be President of the United States.

What reason do they have to believe he will do what he says?

A frequent refrain I’ve heard is that Trump knows how to find good people who know how to do the job and he will just have to manage them while they run the country. Which makes me wonder why we shouldn’t vote for one of those competent people instead.

It doesn’t matter. They know for sure Hilary won’t do what they want. At least with Trump it’s a possibility.

Where is the evidence? As someone here pointed out, he couldn’t keep a CASINO open, which is as close as you can get to a license to print money.

Well, other than the obvious fact that it’s Donald Trump’s name on the ballot, there’s the possibility that these people are not eligible to be President (age, not natural-born citizens, etc.).

Or that they might be good in managing one facet of the country’s administration but not at riding herd over all of it. Personality, temperament, charisma, insight and ambition all play a role in Trump’s having achieved what he has. I doubt that most if any of Trump’s executives would be capable of managing his overall business anywhere near as well as he has.

Which is in no way an indication of a solid leader for a nation. Late night Twitter shit-talking is not an accidental mistake the man made a year ago, it’s his personal version of the fireside chat.

 Huh? Even the staunchly conservative National Review considers Trump a hot mess when it comes to actual business achievements:

(Remember, this is the conservative National Review, which endorsed Goldwater, Nixon, Reagan, both Bushes, and Romney in their Presidential races.) And there are a bunch of additional examples in that link, which doesn’t even address the Trump Foundation “charitable” fundraising or the Cuba embargo violations or a host of other sleazy dealings on Trump’s part.

What has made Trump’s career is not so much his “personality, temperament, charisma, [and] insight” as his insatiable greed, egotistical contempt for the law and pathological indifference to others’ well-being (not to mention the unearned millions in family assets).
