About soccer? I doubt it.
Great. All we need is another world war fought on another continent to decimate the economies of other industrialized nations.
Shit… maybe he does have a plan after all.
America will be so Great ™ that they’ll all immediately switch to real football.
Like most things, Americans would care about it if we were winning. A lot of Americans had never heard of curling but became instant fans when we didn’t suck at it in …was that 2008? I can’t recall. Plus, there was a lot of young trump supports, and kids who grew up with soccer in the 1980s and onward are more likely to care about it.
Actually I do know this rare creature, a guy who played soccer in college, follows European soccer closely (Manchester United fan), and voted for Trump.
He’s a 52 year old angry white dude who fears anyone two shades tanner than he is. But he loves him some soccer.
I wonder…will people still volunteer to join the military when they are asked to attack places like Australia?!
People join the military when you get sent off to some middle eastern country, Australia actually seems pretty nice.
I used to lurk on FreeRepublic - the World Cup threads always got decent traffic, and not just from people saying “real football, hurr durr.”
And that place was for Trump before Trump was the nominee.
(I’m not going back there to find examples - my doctor has forbidden it.)

Why is it, that when the opportunity for them to post something reasoned and thoughtful is offered, they are nowhere in evidence?
In fairness, I suspect that @kaylasdad99 touched on the answer to this question in post #11. Not that I agree that the OP’s motives are questionable, but I totally believe that the “respectable” conservative posters on the board would read the OP and immediately suspect it of being subversive. Speaking just for myself, I know that I actively avoid replying to posts on message boards, whenever I suspect that the OP is just looking to catch the respondents in some kind of “Gotcha!”
i get it, y’all think the prez is gonna ruin the country, but alot of others dont think that; some are even on this board.
there are literally hundreds of threads on this board where trump bashing is an appropriate response, so why muck up a perfectly good opportunity for learning something from others? just sit this one thread out, please and let others talk for a moment.
i, for one, would actually like an answer to the op! and i (maybe alone) will not “gotcha” any replies.

Right, but that’s when you can put your boot up the ass of those terrorists for the whole USA. What did Australia ever do?
Well, at the point you posted this, we had 28 posts of people either deliberately being mocking or making guesses as non-Trump supporters. The well hasn’t just been poisoned, there’s a hose from a tanker of rat poison attached and legislation’s being drafted to create the “All’s Well” Nuclear Waste Dumping zone.
We send our terrorists* to the US.
Oh, wait…
*They’re brown so they’re terrorists, right?
Same deal. Connected to the emotional need to feel validated and listened to.
I hear the roos are self-arming.
Conservatives on this board have never been shy about posting. If they don’t respond it’s because they have no answer. It’s easier to simply argue against liberal ideas than come up with an original idea.
The thing to remember about the 1950s is that there was a top marginal tax rate of more than 90%. Of course nobody paid it, because they spent their profits to get into a lower tax bracket. Reinvesting all of that money did wonders for the economy.
Trump supporters seem to want all of the ‘benefits’ of the 1950s, but they also don’t want to be responsible and pay for them.
It’s a perfectly reasonable question. I suspect that if people think it’s some kind of “gotcha” they haven’t really thought out the answer.
The first rule of Trump Club is ‘Don’t criticise Trump.’
