Trump voters prefer Jefferson Davis as president to Barack Obama

In 2017, you guys prefer someone who defends slavery and committed armed treason against the US as president.

How does calling you out on that behavior make us snowflakes?

Again, if you polled democrats and they said 45/20 (with the other 35% unsure) that they preferred Joseph Stalin as president to Donald Trump, would that make you snowflakes for getting upset?

“What a bunch of babies conservatives are, upset just because we want a mass murdering tyrant as president”

Stalin has the advantage of being safely dead. And could at least get his own party to cooperate with him.

This is a good point. What percentage of respondents actually know who Jefferson Davis was?

 I am not ChiSquirrel and cannot speak for him/her, but I thought the intended point was that it’s the people who get all miffed at being called “deplorable” for being actual slavery-positive racists who are the “snowflakes”.

Awww.

You guys are SO adorable when you’re upset.

“The Few, The Proud, The Deplorable”

Ah. I thought s/he was claiming anyone getting upset that Trump voters prefer Jefferson Davis as president were being snowflakes.

Hey, Bricker. Do me a favor. Click on this link, and then tell me what the lesson from last November about insulting people was again.

Yeah, geez if anything the lesson of November is that a lot of voters are fine with a complete asshole being president.

That is actually a pretty damn good conclusion!

We would have preferred a one-legged leper over Obama.

What about a black one-legged leper?

This is complete nonsense. We’re talking about Nazis for god’s sake. Ku Klux Klansmen. These people are deplorables. They have nothing to be proud of.

The Democrats should not be sucking up to these people. But here’s the kicker - the Republicans shouldn’t be sucking up to these people either. These people should have no political voice.

Is this what Republicans want? Do you really want to be the party that includes Nazis and Klansmen? If child molesters voted for you, would you defend child molesting? How low will you guys go for votes?

Hey Miller,

See any difference between my post, which uses the words, “Voter base,” and your post, which says “people,” in the analogous spot (and has a link to Trump mocking a disabled reporter?)

Any? At all?

So, since you explicitly asked to be told again, the answer is: insulting individuals is different than insulting whole swaths of voters. Trump’s act was the act of a bully, picking on a single individual. Clinton’s (and the OP’s) denigrates a whole chunk of the population, some of which needs to be captured in the next election.

Did you really not see that before now?

Why do “Christians” like you want to go to hell?

The things described as deplorable are also sins. You will go to hell if you keep doing them.

And you’re bragging about it.

Sure. But not a person that calls THEM an asshole. That’s how Trump’s bullying worked: he picked individual targets for ridicule, creating an “us against them” vibe.

Live and don’t learn, that’s the motto!

What’s the best approach then? Pandering to deplorables got them wins but was morally dubious. Calling them deplorables was probably unnecessary and backfired.

Perhaps disagree with their views, don’t pander to them, but also don’t go out of your way to insult them?

Actually, that sounds like a good idea now that I think about it.

Obvious strategy to anyone, I would think, but . . . not, for some bizarre reason.

And even long after he has left office, you seem completely incapable of explaining why.

Beside the point. I too would have no problem preferring somebody with Hansen’s disease (AKA “leprosy”) and limb loss as President over Obama, if I happened to consider that person’s policy positions and abilities superior to Obama’s. There’s nothing about having leprosy or a missing leg that automatically disqualifies one from being a good US President.

Being an actual pro-slavery racist traitor to the US government, however, does disqualify one from being a good US President. Categorically.

The fact that so many Trump supporters would explicitly prefer to have that treasonous defender of black chattel slavery as their President, instead of the intelligent competent black man who managed to keep our nation afloat between the Bush II economic/military disasters and the Trump reality-shitshow, tells you all you need to know about what racist turds they are.
