Trump vs Clinton in the General Election

Sure he can. The rest of the GOP cannot, but he can just fine.

He’s really no worse off now than he was a month ago. If anything the chance of his winning needs to be taken even more seriously. This was a week that saw him explicitly as a self-serving racist fool with much of his own party condemning him while Clinton had a very good week … and the RCP moving average is still within 4, the most recent well rated poll placing it at 3.

It can be that close during a week like this … what does that tell you?

Maybe if you just tell me what it tells me, then I could tell you.

Tells me there is more work to be done, but that things are trending in the right direction. You are, of course, talking about an up to 7-point swing in a week where, traditionally, there shouldn’t be one that large - it’s not as if anyone is getting a post-convention bounce.

My take is that the polling was done before the Democrats closed ranks. When Bernie endorses Hillary, and he will, Hillary will be up by double digits.

Well I can tell you what it tells me. The floor for Trump, based on foundation of those who eat his shit up, those who think he is an act and will be fine once in office, and those who think anyone is better than Clinton, is relatively solid and not so low while the overlap between Clinton’s floor and his ceiling is too big for me. I think it will settle in at Clinton +6ish with some bounce around that but the possibility of a bad bounce happening occurring on election day scares me.

Wait until Trump rips Hillary to shreds at the debate. Will the USA elect someone who starts crying? Or will Trump be seen as a bully? Wait until Trump draws the comparisons between Bill and Hillary and Stanford rapist Brock Turner and Judge Persky. The economy is looking kind of unstable. What happens when the tech bubble bursts? How about those 93 million not in the workforce? They have a lot of time to simmer and vote.

Why would Trump start crying?

If HRC demonstrates on national television that she has bigger hands than him, Trump will cry like a baby.

Perfect user name/post combo. Are you performing a bit?

Trump couldn’t rip a sheet of paper to shreds. Not with those stubby, little fingers.
And do you mean these 93 million?

This post is so provocative!

93 million? You mean the unemployment rate is 30%! Horrors! Or are you counting children and retirees as the simmering unemployed, ready to get revenge against the evil black Muslim socialist gun grabbing Obama?

Hillary has debated far tougher opponents than Trump. Even her granddaughter would pose more of a challenge for her. The debates will be Trump’s Waterloo.

I was listening to the NPR Politics podcast, and one of the reporters played the audio of some Republican women in Ohio she interviewed. They said they would see Drumpf on a talk show and think that he seems reasonable and calm, and like someone they could support. But then “that crazy ad” comes on (the one with women reading misogynist quotes from Drumpf) and they are back to being disgusted with him. They even said, when asked if they could imagine voting for him on election day, that it would depend on whether they had seen that ad earlier in the day!

So a gold star for whoever put that together, and please keep it rolling.

Short-term Republican memory loss?

While I’m waiting, I’ll be on Amazon to buy an umbrella reinforced to withstand falling pig feces.

On this whole “Delete your account” thing:

I don’t tweet, so there’s no way I would have known that that was a Twitter insult among teenagers except that I read the news religiously. On its face it still sounds childish, and there’s no chance he’d do it anyway. Regardless, stop giving him good advice!

This is what happen when you give goldfish the vote.

Sure, I can see your point (echoed by Nonsuch), that these women shouldn’t need such repeated and frequent reinforcement to remember what a jackass the guy is. But we are talking about former Cruz supporters! It’s a miracle that we have the chance at all to coax them into voting for Hillary Clinton.

Hillary has been public life since 1992, she has been through a lot of egregious shit and been under a lot of spotlights, and nothing has yet reduced her to tears in public. Trump can’t do it.

This is just getting sad. Yeah, a woman who watched her Husband face impeachment hearings in the highest office in the land for lying about cheating on her is going to start crying over something this blowhard says. Riiiiight. Where do you people get this stuff?

Apparently the mirror universe, where not only is any of this shit actually true, but Donald Trump appears to many people to be the more reasonable choice when it comes to the economy, and I literally cannot say that sentence without laughing.
