Trump vs Clinton in the General Election

Hillary has defeated the terrorists by using a certain word! Hooray! This is really an important thing that matters!

No no no no no. The magical “Islamic terrorism” amulet only works if the president says it while clicking his heels three times. Then all the terrorists melt.

she has one, taken away one of the GOP and Trump’s huge talking points, and two, has put the extreme-left in their place. She’s returning to be the centrist that she and Bill are at heart, and centrism, not conservatism or “progressivism” is what America needs.

There is no reason to assume this was overly planned or that he must have trained all that hard. There’s a reason why so many people die when fires break out in clubs like this: they’re loud, dark and owners often break code by blocking or locking emergency exits.

I’m fine with Hillary’s rhetoric on this (and I’m fine with Obama’s as well), but no, this didn’t take anything away, because anyone who thinks that whether or not someone calls it radical terrorism, radical Islamic terrorism, or just terrorism, isn’t on the fence on who to vote for.

LOL.

I think its high time that the progressive cognitive dissonance on Islam end, what Bill Maher has pointed out. As someone who is always for abortion rights, LGB rights, religious/racial minority rights, it confuses the hell out of me why many progressives only criticize non-Muslims for opposing such things, but excuse Muslims for opposing such things.

I don’t criticize anyone for opposing such things, I just think they’re wrong. I respect the opinions of anti-abortion people, be they Christian or Muslim, and within our political system we’ll fight on opposite sides. I don’t give Muslims a pass on these issues more than any other group, nor do I hold them responsible for the acts of terror committed by a fringe minority.

It probably confuses you because it’s false – liberals and progressives (including Obama) criticize Muslims all the time. They may not make sweeping negative generalizations about a religion of billions, but there is plenty of criticism.

Perhaps not in right-wing fantasy land, but in the real world, it’s true.

The best part of the article that Derek linked to came at the end:

That’s some good ol’ base-panderin’ right there!

Ah! So you have solid proof of the charges? Perhaps you’ll share?

It is only a “huge talking point” because they say it a lot. It’s never been huge in impact or persuasiveness. I think Mrs. Clinton got this part right:

When in doubt, create a juicy conspiracy theory…

Trump seems determined to lock down the 25% - 30% of the vote. And that’s pretty much what he’ll get.

I’m getting more confident that we’re doing to see a Goldwater-type defeat hear, with the subsequent destruction of Hispanic goodwill towards the Republican Party for a generation.

Sane Republicans need to do something at this point; the need to acknowlege they’re going to lose the presidency, and work to contain the damage that will occur over the next 20 years if they support Trump…

Now that’s just plain silly. Why would you think there will be any damage? The GOP is doing everything right, no need to change a thing.

oh yes, because whenever anyone mentions Islamic terrorism, there isn’t a parade of left-wingers with “Oh but the Crusades,” “what about Tim McVeigh,” etc.

Like I said in the pit thread of Stupid Republican ideas, I’m glad that the media is more likely now to remind their readers about how huuuge a crank magnet Trump really is.

The point, that you still miss, is that there are nuts among all the faiths, not just Islam.

I’m well aware of that. What I’m also aware of is that governments around the world are NOT spending billions of dollars and thousands of man/hours to fight Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and Bahaii-inspired terrorism.

And what makes you think that we are not aware of that is the right wing media, stop relying on them. There is a very strategic reason why broad brushes like the one you are trying to impose should not be done, there are still a lot of Muslims that are also fighting against the same terrorists, and they are not only spending money but lives also, like in Iraq. So you are wrong already in your sweeping statement.

The fact that you choose to ignore it is the problem.

I don’t rely on Fox News. Fact is on all the progressive blogs, like Daily Kos, Dem Underground, Reddit posts, and from posters here, the response from progressive is usually “da Crusadez,” “Tim McVeigh,” etc.
