The thought crossed my mind.

…for any of those people out there that are still “on the fence” regarding Trump: I just want you to note the wording that was used here.
Sally Q. Yates didn’t “betray the American people.”
Sally Q. Yates “betrayed” the administration.
Trump doesn’t stand for the American people. The American way of life. American principals.
He stands for himself. His friends and his family. For the people that will enrich him.
This quote says it all.
Because the abuses are in their favor.
What matters to them isn’t what you do, it’s what side of the political divide you are on; most of them would be perfectly happy manning a machine-gun in a concentration camp guard tower, as long as they were wearing an American flag armband instead of a swastika. Because that makes it completely different, you see.
Lol.
Jesus, what a shitshow
Yeah, and he just won Best in Show.
And of course, Trump can’t resist slagging someone he fired.
Fucken hell America, how the hell is this going to pan out?
I don’t know. I really don’t know.
But this is the government we wanted, and the government we deserve. And before you say that he didn’t win the popular vote or whatever, he won by the rules. If people had turned out at the polls like they are for the protests things would be very different.
Of course, you know who else won at the polls, right? You know you do. If it’s all the same to you, I’d prefer that there not be a repeat of that.
I don’t understand where you’re getting this conclusion. How do you know, or why do you think, that significant numbers of the people in the protests didn’t vote?
AFAICT, protests have been in the hundreds to hundreds of thousands of participants range. What makes you think that those people didn’t “turn out at the polls”?
Just another bizarre attempt to blame the Trump disaster on people who didn’t vote for him rather than on the people who did.
I have some trouble with this. I am not sure we collectively deserve this. What I said after the election is that those people who voted for Trump were going to get the government they deserve. I am not sure the rest of us deserve it.
Also, I guess I haven’t seen any data that would back up your claim that there have been enough protesters who didn’t actually vote in states where it matters to actually have made the difference. My WAG is that about 98% of the protesters did in fact vote.
Shouldn’t I? Weeks and weeks of news reports and polls saying that Hillary had it in the bag, and it didn’t happen that way. How many people stayed home because it was a done deal? As has been said many times since the election, Trump won with a lower vote total than both McCain and Romney, and they got smoked. Voter apathy is absolutely a big cause of this.
No. I did vote. This is neither the government I want nor, I hope, deserve.
Almost 66 million people voted for Clinton. Are you positing that this number is less than the number of protesters? That’s a lot of protesters. Where are you getting these numbers?
Well after the Women’s March, Trump said something about why didn’t they vote? The electoral college is kinda fucked by (now) design.
God are all these people stupid or retarded?
Trump is parroting what FBHO had on the 7 or so countries from back in 2011(I believe was year). Where was the uproar when FBHO denied immigrant travel from these same countries?
Besides, if muslim countries don’t want these muslim immigrants, why should America take them? It’s not a law or requirement that we accept or let them in.
Tell me, how many legal residents were detained, contrary to court order, at the airports?
There wasn’t one, because that never happened. Those countries were on the Visa Waiver list…that did not mean “they can’t come in”, it meant “we want to examine their visa applications a little more carefully than the usual ones we get”. This “extreme vetting” didn’t happen when they arrived at the airport. It happened years before they ever got a visa to enter, if they did.
The difference is that Obama was an adult human being who employed people with foreign policy and immigration experience to advise him on these issues, rather than being a thumb-sucking orange fuzzball who employs a neo-Nazi to advise him on these issues.
:dubious: Cite? AFAIK, there were few if any polls claiming that Clinton’s lead was well outside the margin of error.
How many people stayed home because it was a done deal?
Some? Maybe none? And why would you imagine that Clinton voters in tight races in swing states would have been likely to “stay home because it was a done deal”?
Voter apathy is absolutely a big cause of this.
But I don’t think voter apathy can plausibly be ascribed to those of us who turn out for protests.
And, of course, let’s not forget that the people who directly made this happen are the ones who voted for Trump.
Next time, put a United Way update or something between the “accuse others of being stupid and retarded” part and the “make stupid and retarded assertion of easily refuted alternate facts” part.
