Well, I guess it’s understandable that Trump had to take such quick decisive action, after all of the terrorist attacks against the United States in the past 8 years, especially the recent weekly or even daily bombings and attacks. This is why he had to take quick action, because of the DANGER that every American finds themselves in EVERY DAY.

Of course, if there had not been such a terrorist CRISIS ongoing in the United States, I’m sure your president would have acted more methodically; Identifying countries that are ACTUALLY exporting terrorists (hint - Saudi Arabia would have topped the list), formulating a plan to deal with vetting them more carefully, communicating this plan to the appropriate authorities who could then have put resources in place to make sure that a smooth process was put in place that increases safety while not causing chaos and pandemonium.
But since there was a CRISIS OF IMPENDING DOOM, actions had to be taken right away without regard to negative consequences.

Mrs. Siam Sam is back in Thailand until early March. She’s a green-card holder, and I’m worried about what could happen. Sure, she is not a Muslim and does not have a Muslim name. I just saw on CNN that Rancid Priebus says green-card holders will be allowed back in after all. And they’re saying two Republican congressional leaders are now coming out strongly against it.

The press over here are going on about it being an anti-Muslim order, but I’ve looked at the order as detailed in the OP, and as far as I can tell, in the general exclusion part, it affects persons of all faiths. Christian, Muslim, Zoroastran, all of them. Only in the part about refugees does it mandate prioritising minority faiths.

One analyst I listened to made very good points about why it is indeed a de-facto Muslim ban. One, lots people like me consider it one. Two, lots of right-wingers like David Duke are not just considering it one but actually celebrating this Muslim ban. Then it seems Christians can be granted exceptions? I’m not clear on that last part.
I propose that for the duration the practice should be known as Executive Ordure.
Even if this ban were a good idea, which it most certainly is not, the way in which it was carried out was moronic. As another analyst said: “It was like amateur night at the Apollo Theater.” Embassies were not warned. Border-security personnel were not warned. Etc.
Canadian officials are getting conflicting opinions about what this might mean for dual citizens of Canada and listed countries… Because nobody in the US government knows what the fuck is going on.
Green-card and visa holders boarded planes thinking they’d be admitted, and then the ordure was signed while they were in flight, and they were out of luck. Jesus Fuck! Who had to bear the cost of flying them back where they came from? I know in normal circumstances, it’s the airline, because they were supposed to make sure the passenger would have been able to enter the country. But now?
