Trump's Executive Order on Immigration - Let it Rip Dopers

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like chaos if you’re one of his supporters in places like Wyoming or Nebraska. Those people could not care less, and they like it just fine.

Plus which, Fuckin’ Chaos is one more step along the road to the CRISIS so eloquently described by EP above. Which is devoutly to be wished by … somebody … because it would provide the rationale for Il Douche to Take Control* and Get Things Done.

*Temporarily, of course.

Trump could hardly be upset if Canada built a wall until they could find out what the hell is going on.

I note that the judge who defied Dear Leader’s order is a petulant female, probably menstruating. Did she become a judge because she couldn’t find any men who wanted to grab her pussy? Sad.

Well, with blood coming out of her wherever, who can blame him?

Apologies if it’s been mentioned here already and I missed it, but I see that Angela Merkel has lectured Trump that as a signatory to the Geneva Convention, the US is obligated to take a certain number of refugees from war-torn countries.

Can we compare him to Chester Cheetah?

Way back in a university class in the early 2000s, I learned that laws could be discriminatory in two ways: explicitly, such as Trump’s campaign promise to ban Muslims; and disparate impact, such as this asinine executive order. Those who are celebrating the order are not celebrating its effect in keeping out terrorists. Take a wild guess what they’re celebrating about it.

That it advances the cause of peace and understanding between peoples? No? Then fuck 'em.

Looks like even ol’ Rancid is confused. After saying green-card holders were outside the scope of the Executive Ordure, he’s now come back and said unless you’re a green-card holder from those seven countries. Sheesh!

I’m hearing on the news now that Rancid is being empowered to take Trump’s place during meetings of the National Security Council.

The second sentence refers to them coming out against the Executive Ordure, not coming out against allowing in green-card holders. My bad. (But again, Rancid is now saying holders from those seven countries can’t come in after all.)

And here is how well Trump’s order is prioritizing Christian refugees.

From the Daily Kos. Had to post it because this writer says what I think better.

Let’s hope so.

And probably way too fat for beauty pageants.
Hopefully someone might speculate (within Cheeto’s earshot) that the judge might be part Muslim, launching a full investigation on her to get her deported ASAP.

That idea’s sounding increasingly palatable to this Canadian. Just to be thorough, though, it would also have to run right down the middle of Juan de Fuca Straight, between the Olympic Peninsula and Vancouver Island, which would be YUGE expensive.

In her nomination to the federal circuit, President Obama said she would “serve the American people with integrity and an unwavering commitment to justice.” Right on.

She, and 328 of her colleagues he also nominated have what can be considered among the most secure jobs of any in the USA. They are not going anywhere. Mark one down for checks and balances.

Heh, the National Review claimed that the critics of Trump are being hysterical, seems that the piece was written early before knowing all the facts because in the middle of the whitewash they added a bit that sticks like a sore thumb breaking the narrative. They reported that “however” ‘preventing the ones with green cards to come** is madness** and it should be condemned’.

So much for accusing others of hysterical protests when it is really serious even for conservatives.

I saw Priebus live on CNN and I was just as confused as Chuck Todd was about what ol’ Priebus was actually saying … He kept using this phrase “going forward…” The New York Times has (I think reasonably, but who knows?) interpreted this to mean that they are now changing the original policy to allow in the green-card holders: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/29/us/politics/white-house-official-in-reversal-says-green-card-holders-wont-be-barred.html

What makes the whole thing so confusing is that it seems that Priebus was using “going forward…” as a euphemism for the fact that they were changing the policy but without explicitly wanting to admit that they were changing it. (It all reminds me of the sort of corporate-doublespeak by fuck-wad managers: We once wasted more than 1/2 an hour in a division meeting at Kodak because our idiotic division director refused to admit that the plan to “improve productivity” by 10% per year in the research labs over the next few years was really just a euphemism for saying that they were going to cut the budget by 10% per year.)

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

Sound familiar?

Bob

But the Trumpers think they are “illegal.” Some of them were Hispanic and Jewish and stuff…
