Trumps [Former] New Social Media Platform

IANAL, but this is not precedential.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, too. He’s gonna have to welcome the violent nutjobs, and that’s gonna make it very hard for any corporation that’s NOT pro-violent-nutjobs to associate themselves with the enterprise. In addition to hosts, he’s gotta have a revenue stream, and without corporate advertisers, I don’t see that happening.

Much likelier is that this is yet another Trump scam.

The people who come up with this idea have no understanding of social media. In order to be successful there has to be a critical mass of users who return over and over. Who is going to spend a lot of time at a site where the only topic of conversation is right-wing talking points? Even right-wingers would get tired of that.

The reason Twitter, FB, etc. are successful is because every possible subject is represented. (I am most familiar with Twitter, hence my examples.) Yes, politics is big on Twitter — but pop music is much bigger, and sports is even bigger. I can go to Twitter and find a discussion on anything from restaurants to medicine.

I just can’t imagine someone would join Trump’s platform to talk about anything besides politics, and that’s most of it.

Sorry but no, that is literally the only thing they want.

Yes I don’t think any serious advertisers are going to touch this thing with a 10 foot pole, there might be some fly by night outfits that see this as an easy way to connect with guilable marks ripe for the plucking, but in the end it will have to go subscription based, and who wants to pay for this kind of thing when you can go on parler for free.

Also if by some miracle, this thing does get off the ground, chances are it’s going to be run on a shoestring budget (Trump hates spending money on things he can’t gold plate), maanged by a couple of IT guys who got certified in web-design at their local community college hosted on a PC running Vista. So it will be down at least half the time.

Basically in think this platform has even less chance of competing with the big boys as the USFL had against the NFL.

Even if true, what’s in it for the vast majority of people, who aren’t one-item right-wingers, to join?

Who says they want those people? They just want something like Parler back (yes, I know Parler did come back, but then closed and is back again).

There’s always the My Pillow guy.

I’m not sure if he’ll be able to afford to advertise after the lawsuits from Dominion.

Assuming he owns the platform, he can lie his ass off. There’s no law against lying in most cases. He would only get in trouble if he fomented violence, which, given his record, means it could get shut down pretty fast.

He could also get in trouble for libel, but he seems immune to that, and I don’t think it’s because he was president.

You mean his new competitor?

I’m guessing, one and the same. Donny is just claiming it, yknow, like he always does, for everything he had NO part in!

Word on the street is, it’ll be ready for launch in like…two weeks.

It’s closed!

Normally I read centrist publications but I looked at a link without checking. Well, it was good news anyway.

From the linked article.

“From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” was preceded in death by Trump Airlines, Trump beverages, Trump: The Game, numerous Trump casinos, Trump magazine, Trump Mortgage, Trump Steaks, a Trump travel website, Trump telecom, Trump University, and Trump Vodka.

Trump blog aborted by Jason Miller at approximately four weeks.

Could be that a good number of Trump followers simply aren’t computer savvy. I mean if they were, and informed, would they be following him in the first place?

If they’re savvy enough to glom onto alt-right bullshit they’re savvy enough to find Trump’s end of the internet if they were so inclined.

For the rest of us, that’s roughly three Scaramuccis.

I move that this thread be renamed “The Former Guy’s Former Blog”.

I read somewhere (possibly the original WaPo report) that the orange shit-gibbon was “infuriated” at the embarrassingly low level of readership his amazing new internet creation was getting, compounded by the fact that he was being mocked for it on real social media. So Herr Goebbels Jason Miller was ordered to shut it down.

My understanding from the latest proclamations is that this was never intended to be a “platform” to replace Twitter, and that such a platform – the greatest platform the internet has ever seen in history – comparable to the greatness of the Terrific Orange Health Care Plan that replaced Obamacare – is still coming.

In about two weeks.
