I’m not much of a political junkie, but that was the least painful political speech I’ve heard since Obama’s presidential addresses. Is there a reason Schiff isn’t running for the 2020 Democratic nomination?
Right–if you “win by being dead-straight trustworthy and respectable” then how do you explain Trump’s presidency?
Most Americans are ignorant, and nearly as many are stupid and gullible. Trump has been exploiting this again and again. The Republicans and their media cronies are exploiting it right now, by using the technicality of Mueller’s report–one small, potential issue with Trump–to cover up a whole array of other larger issues of corruption, incompetence, deception, and general bullshit. It’s all a public relations show–political theater, and nothing more–aimed at a population that’s too lazy to actually learn and understand how their own government works, and who would rather sit on the asses watching bullshit reality TV shows instead.
Do you think the stupid and ignorant Americans are going to give a rat’s ass even if Schiff did allow some information to get out, when they continue to completely ignore all of Trump’s obvious bullshit?
Tell y’all what: I’ll support Mr. Schiff stepping down if Mr. Trump, who has unquestionably committed a far greater number of, and more egregious, ethical lapses, does the same.
The Democrats should capitulate to bad faith GOP rat-fuckery because it feels like it might be true?
Are you fucking serious?
Exactly, and you can see them on display in the comments section of the linked video in the OP. I guess I’ve gotten spoiled reading comments in the New York Times and Washington Post.
Rep. Conaway either has no teeth or a bad microphone.
Anyway, “Shrump” sounds like something that might catch on. So far there’s only a few photoshops of Disney’s Shrek on the net.
^ This.
I prefer to read a transcript. For one thing, it will take less time than watching the video will. For another, I’m not always cruising the internet on a device that can handle video.
I think I can spot your mistake, there…
When the Republicans had control of the House, some of their Chairmen were quite despicable. How often did the Ds move that one of these R’s step down?
If I actually knew any Latin, on reading that litany of breathtakingly idiotic comments, I might be thinking, “Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur”.
Calling the Republican Party rank and file stupid is politically incorrect. (in the original sense of the words, meaning unlikely to achieve the changes you wish with politics) It is also incorrect. Their intelligence is statistically similar to that of Democrats. It also cuts them way too much slack! President Donald Trump, and Candidate Donald Trump has not changed. His publicly expressed values represent a very close approximate to the values of the party membership. They did not vote for him in spite of his stances on Mexican criminals, Neo Nazis, and his fervent belief that any disagreement with him is treason. They voted for him, and continue to support him because of those ethics.

That government of the wealthy, by the wealthy, and for the wealthy shall not perish from the earth.
They can also be stupid because they choose poor premises, have antisocial POVs, and choose authoritarian rather than authoritative information sources.
Schiff’s cold outrage was powerful and palpable. Glad he said it.
