Great rhetorical device. "You may think that is OK . . . " "I don’t . . . "
Reminds self never to piss off Adam Schiff
Nice summary of the issues that continue to surround our “totally exonerated” President.
Unfortunately, the link in the OP is to a video. So I have no idea what Schiff’s response was.
Yeah I’m not going to watch a 10 minute Fox News video just to get to the punch line.
Here is a link to a TPM story containing some of Schiff’s remarks.
Well, it’s a video that consists almost entirely of Schiff’s response. While it apparently was sourced from Fox News, it appears to be unedited footage of the committee meeting where Schiff made his remarks.
Nice speech. Wasted breath, though. Imagine trying to appeal to the American right’s sense of shame. That’s like arguing with them using facts and reason.
MSNBC also has a nice blog post that quotes a lot of his speech.
So skip the first 20 seconds to get to the GOP condemnation of Schiff at the hearing or skip to the 2:10 mark to get to his response. It’s well worth your while.
It can also be found on multiple other sites, in case your hesitancy is based on not wanting to give traffic to FOXNews. And yes, it IS pretty good.
It’s not that. I just hate watching videos.
Oh SNAP! I could see the hair on the R’s heads smoking.
Everything Schiff said is true, but he’s still (almost certainly) to blame for spreading a few strongly misleading tidbits to the press that he should have and, even worse, for leaking anything at all when there was an ongoing criminal, investigation underway and it was to the advantage of the criminals to have it out in the open what all had been discovered by the FBI, so that they could prepare against it.
Pelosi should have replaced him with someone more levelheaded and honest. You ain’t going to win against Trump with lies and misleading statements. You win by being dead-straight trustworthy and respectable. Whether Schiff’s intentions or beliefs are good or not, he’s still not the right man for the job and the Democrats would do well to (partially) heed the advice of the Republicans (in this specific incident) and swap someone else in as the chairman of the committee.
Please provide details.
I recall a couple of instances in 2017 when Republicans were selectively releasing tidbits and some Democrat(s) released entire files. Don’t recall if Schiff was part of that or not. I do recall Nunes sneaking into the White House to let them know what was going on.
That is THE BEST summary of evidence, clearly spoken for once. Go, Mitch!
Nice to see Schiff punch back, and I hope the days of Democrats allowing people like McConnell to push them around are over. But a link to faux news youtube channel, oh for fucks sake. I would have appreciated that heads up in the OP, and a better description of what this was about, and I want a pony. No, strike that I wouldn’t even know what to do with a fuckin pony. It’s just a thing people say, you know?
You’re going to have to show some proof of that. I like Schiff and aside from being frustratingly optimistic of the HIC early on during the committee’s investigation, I think he’s doing a wonderful job. We need more like him.
Having read a selection of them, I am not convinced that many of the commenters got much past that 2:10 point.
The bolded sentences are stupid. The first has absolutely no evidence to back it up and the second is demonstrably untrue.
The conclusion, that Democrats should capitulate to the GOP, deserves no consideration, only scorn, IMO.
I have no strong proof. Manafort’s notes from the Veselnitskaya meeting seem like the most likely to have come from Schiff - except that according to the report, it was said that they were talking about “GOP and Contributions”. In the actual notes, it’s clear that they’re talking about Bill Browder and how he’s an active sponsor of the RNC. Manafort’s notes from the meeting are unlikely to have been available to anyone outside of the Gang of Eight.
And whereas there were a large number of leaks about Russia, the Trump Tower Meeting, etc. regularly for a year or so, once the House Intelligence Committee shut down that all stopped and all we could do was wait for Mueller indictments. Previous to that, there were weekly revelations of nefarious behavior. And while that may have been entertaining and all, it probably did hamper Mueller’s case.
Gang of Eight + House Intelligence Committee + Wants to spur his committee to dig into the Russia matter further through public pressure = Schiff
