As I understand it, MdConnell is now bringing this legislation to the floor for a vote largely because he knows it won’t pass, and he can say Democrats rejected a compromise. This is after McConnell had previously said that he wouldn’t bring any votes to the floor if they had no chance of passing.
So, after this fails, what is his excuse for not bringing any of the House passed bills, reopening the government, for a vote?

Mitch is hearing from his people, they want out, they want this over before it gets any worse. So he cooked up this “compromise” scheme. Il Douche gets what he wants in return he glues back together the shit he broke, and promises to be good. Its a fairly desperate ploy, but they probably figure what the heck! If it doesn’t work, they’re no worse off, and maybe the Dems are dumb enough to fall for it.
Be like Roberto Duran about to say “No mas!” and his manager says “Let me offer them a compromise, and make it a draw!”.
The fun thing is besides the Dems not falling for this crap, the MAGA morons have been so indoctrinated that they think a crappy three year DACA extension means amnesty.
Not to mention that “amnesty” refers to pardons for those who have consciously committed a crime. Little kids who were carried across a border in their parents’ arms scarcely fit that description.
Watching these imbeciles in a circular firing squad would be much more fun if the rest of us weren’t sitting in the middle of it.
But this compromise isn’t any kind of compromise; it’s is an empty gesture, calculated only to make it look like the Dems won’t play ball.
Now if Mitch starts hearing from his people and they are demanding a realistic solution-- or if they are saying, “Bring any one of the Dems’ bills here for a vote, and we’ll override the presidents veto, 'cause we have enough votes to do it!” then I’ll be impressed.
