I’m so stealing this.
Look, I won’t deny that the caterwauling of wounded Trumpiviks is pure euphony, and it’s predictable that auxiliary gargoyles like Ann Coulter and the rest of the no-soul gang, who thought they’d trained their monkey to dance, would pull out the knives. But there’s something - not unseemly exactly - decorum and Trump don’t belong in the same lexicon - but counterproductive, maybe? seeing TRUMP CAVES!!!11@@ in the mainstream press and by left-leaning pundits and commenters. He IS still president, and will likely remain so for at least another two years, and still has the capacity to do incalculable harm on a whim. It’s like the puppy finally landed one on the newspaper and we’re rubbing his nose in it anyway. Maybe we shouldn’t be dancing around the fire singing “Yub Nub” just yet?
But Trump losing and looking weak should encourage the Republicans in the Senate, many of whom are marginally more sane than Trump, to do what is not so wrong.
This is a quote from the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker

Left_Hand_of_Dorkness:
For three weeks. I’m trying to imagine Trump calling for another shutdown in three weeks, and how McConnell would feel about backing his play that time.
McConnell’s willingness to fuck over the country for partisan gain has surprised me before, but even so I have a hard time seeing him playing ball with the president on another go-round.
Apparently, in regards to the government shutdown, he told fellow Republicans, “There’s no education in the second kick of a mule.”
Only he said that in 2013, in regard to the shutdown over ObamaCare.
Surely he’d not see much education in the mule’s fifth kick. Right?
Right?
I sort of enjoy seeing them get kicked in the teeth - especially Trump. That, coupled with arrests, indictments, and the promise of REAL House investigations keeps me going.

I just read somewhere, the RNC is gonna (or has?) nominated him to run for pres again in 2020. Is that true? If so that Repub party needs to go the way of the Whigs, Federalist, Free Soil, Know-Nothing and Bullmoose parties – extinction.

According to CNN yesterday, the RNC is proposing to merge the Trump re-election campaign and the RNC’s field organizing and fundraising efforts.
Trump campaign officials here touted the merger as “revolutionary” and said it was largely aimed at streamlining the Trump re-election effort in 2020. But GOP officials also described the effort as a way to dissuade would-be primary challengers, forging ahead as though Trump would face no intra-party challenge.
The RNC resolution, supporters said, would amplify that message.

Almost. Vinyl Turnip made a subtle adjustment.
Yes, he did. My point was, steal from the source.

Nope. He did not land it on the paper.

Nope. He did not land it on the paper. He got in the carpet and rubbed his paws in it. He’ll track it everywhere for years…or until he’s put in the pound.
Can’t you just send him to a farm upstate so he can drive it into bankruptcy?

I can’t seem to hear Old Man River without thinking of Stan Freberg’s Elderly Man River . I highly recommend it, especially for those who think “PC” is a recent phenomenon.
You’re welcome, I’m sure.
I beg to differ, madam. I would no more steal that line than I would Van Helsing’s famous catchphrase “let’s kick it up a notch with a little more garlic. BRAM!”

Let me see if I get this right - it’s from someone else.
Trump shits on the carpet.
Trump demands that someone else clean it up
Trump claims it wasn’t his
Trump smears it everywhere with his hands
Trump declares he cleaned it all up, better than anyone else could
Trump says it was Hillary’s turd.
The Base screams “Lock her up”

I think that’s very close, but it might also be:
Thump shits on the carpet
The Democrats cry out, “That’s wrong!”
The Republicans cry out, “Well done, Mr. President! The carpet looks better than before and smells better, too!”
Thump says, “What carpet? By the way, when Obama moved out of here, he left a bad smell. Hillary’s fault, too. I’m going to play golf. Call ahead and order me some chicken wings!”
The Republicans send in a crew who rips out the carpet, and they burn it and never speak of it again."
