I’d add only some reference to Obama never having turds as wonderful as his.

I remember, during the debates in 2016 that he got praise for the worst performances. I said then that everyone was giving him applause for the accomplishment of managing to NOT shit on the carpet. It infuriated me.

President Donald Trump is prepared to shut down the government again or declare a national emergency if Congress won’t work with him to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, the White House said Sunday.

The president’s standoff with Democrats on Capitol Hill is far from over and the clock is ticking — the spending bill Trump signed on Friday funds the government agencies that had been shut down only until Feb. 15.

White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told CBS’ “Face the Nation” that Trump’s goal is was to work with Congress.

“What he wants to do is fix this the way that things are supposed to get fixed with our government which is through legislation,” Mulvaney said.

Mulvaney said the president didn’t want another shutdown, but he would do it if necessary.

“Keep in mind he’s willing to do whatever it takes to secure the border,” he said.

I’m thinking that Trump needs someone to correct his definition of “necessary”, amongst other things.

I think it would be folly to bet against another shutdown:

As hundreds of thousands of furloughed federal workers prepared to return to work, Trump told The Wall Street Journal that he doesn’t think the negotiators will strike a deal that he’d accept. He pledged to build a wall anyway using his executive powers to declare a national emergency if necessary.

“I personally think it’s less than 50-50, but you have a lot of very good people on that board,” Trump said in an interview Sunday with the newspaper.

The president was referring to a bipartisan committee of House and Senate lawmakers that will consider border spending as part of the legislative process.

Right. So the cunning plan is to spend a couple of weeks insisting that the president will shut down the government, then the president will shut down the government, then the president will blame the Democrats for the shutdown?

It is infuriating that the shutdown, to Trump, was = to grounding the country for defying him (even his supporters) & now letting everyone off on probation – better not defy him again or what, he’ll ground the country till his youngest is 30? His complete lack of self-evaluation & of reality is horrifying.

To add a little background…Ann Coulter Rages At ‘Disgraced Politician’ Gingrich After He Tells Trump To Ignore Her - TPM – Talking Points Memo

It started when Gingrich appeared on Fox and Friends and said:

“He should not pay any attention to Ann Counter… Ann Coulter’s never run for office. She doesn’t know anything about how you put a majority together. She’s off here on some fantasyland where she gets to be noisy, which helps her sell books.”

Which led to the above (and in my link) riposte by Dear Ann.

It’s almost as hilarious where Newt talks about “putting a majority together”, especially with a Democratic House, like he was known as the “Great Compromiser” when he was in office.

Another vote for Shutdown V2 being destructive to the country and terrible for the GOP’S electoral prospects. If would be as if Trump invited Pelosi over to the oval office to club him in the nuts with a lead pipe on live TV while Pence looked on lovingly and applauded.
