So Trump’s visiting our shores in a week. Unfortunately I’m going to be in the wrong places at the wrong times. He’ll be in London on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately I’ll be travelling on the Friday and at Goodwood on the Saturday. There’s a good chance he’ll be visiting Aberdeenshire on the Sunday because he has a golf course here, but I’m travelling up from the South that evening. It would have been nice to be able to join one of the demonstrations.
Heh. Thanks for the inspiration. Remember the cover of Pink Floyd’s Animals? Here’s a version I cooked up. (A good caption might be the line “Hey you Whitehouse, Ha Ha, charade you are.”)
There’s also a strike planned for the Piccadilly Line during the time Mr. Trump is there. The middle of July is peak tourist season and the Piccadilly Line is the easiest way to get from London Heathrow airport to the city. This will cause serious disruption to travel should this strike not be called off.
In addition to Heathrow, the Piccadilly Line is heavily used by visitors as it is convenient to many tourist attractions.
Having nothing at all to do with helping Trump not see any protests…
“We are looking forward to making sure the president has a chance to see and experience the UK beyond London and the south east…”
It’s not the busiest airport, but it does handle raucous package tours, USAF and other military stopovers, and (allegedly) CIA rendition flights, so they’ll cope I’m sure.
I can imagine how absolutely delighted Police Scotland are though.
