Trump's visit to the UK - I'm going to miss the fun!

So Trump’s visiting our shores in a week. Unfortunately I’m going to be in the wrong places at the wrong times. He’ll be in London on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately I’ll be travelling on the Friday and at Goodwood on the Saturday. There’s a good chance he’ll be visiting Aberdeenshire on the Sunday because he has a golf course here, but I’m travelling up from the South that evening. It would have been nice to be able to join one of the demonstrations.

Rats! I will, however, enjoy them vicariously.

Can I be the first to post this? (I know, long time, no post.)

Giant ‘Trump Baby’ could fly over London for president’s visit

All the respect he deserves. Let’s hope there are no Dick* moves to prevent it.

(*Damn: “…additional approvals are also needed from the Metropolitan Police.”)

I liked Nigel Farage’s comment: “Biggest insult to a sitting US president ever.” Yup!

Heh. Thanks for the inspiration. Remember the cover of Pink Floyd’s Animals? Here’s a version I cooked up. (A good caption might be the line “Hey you Whitehouse, Ha Ha, charade you are.”)

The best part is they intend to move it around the city so it’s kinda following him. Awesome!

There’s also a strike planned for the Piccadilly Line during the time Mr. Trump is there. The middle of July is peak tourist season and the Piccadilly Line is the easiest way to get from London Heathrow airport to the city. This will cause serious disruption to travel should this strike not be called off.

In addition to Heathrow, the Piccadilly Line is heavily used by visitors as it is convenient to many tourist attractions.

Having nothing at all to do with helping Trump not see any protests…
“We are looking forward to making sure the president has a chance to see and experience the UK beyond London and the south east…”

Nope, nothing to do with avoiding protests.

Aren’t there treaties about dumping toxic waste? Keep your damned president on your side of the pond.

Sorry, you started it with having Farage come over here.

I love that they plan on sending it around to follow him. If His Orangeness does come to Spain I’m looking forward to the giant baby blimp.

It’s a fair cop, no need to escalate though.

Well, yeah, but only if we can bring comedy blimps and sousaphones.

I don’t think this corner of the country is part of the itinerary, and I can’t really justify going somewhere that is, unfortunately.

This.

Way more likely to be Turnberry he’s visiting. Prestwick is much more suitable for AF1, for a start.

My apologies in advance to all at PIK.

It’s not the busiest airport, but it does handle raucous package tours, USAF and other military stopovers, and (allegedly) CIA rendition flights, so they’ll cope I’m sure.

I can imagine how absolutely delighted Police Scotland are though.

True. The runway here is about the minimum length. But it’s more secure up here.

Oh, I thought we brought our torture victims through Shannon. I wonder if Trump will find a way to monetize their screams?
