Very easy.
When I was 14, I was visiting my aunt’s house. My other aunt was also over. She was getting ready to leave, and she came over to me and said “I need to talk to you in private.”
She took me aside into another room, and said to me,
“I need to tell you that you are adopted. You are not your mother’s child, you are my child. The reason I am telling you this is because your mother, she is getting very selfish. Now, if you need anything, you can call me.”
And then she disappeared from my life for five years, the :wally !
And don’t worry about destroying the mood - I’m well over it, and don’t mind talking about it!

In the interests of privacy, I shall enigmatically assert that the poster whose name answers this question is well aware of her own identity. Given that she’s likely to show up in this thread at some point (if she hasn’t done so already; I’ve not read the whole thing), I’ll let her out herself if she’d like. I told a girl that I had OCD once, to try and get her to like me (she had it, I was looking for something in common, that seemed sensible at the time). Eventually I owned up to it, and she was understandably pissed, since we’d shared a lot of stories about it - mine all being fake. Of course, ironically, I now do have OCD…but that’s karma for you :rolleyes:

I cried for sure, because I was always the one who got clobbered first because I fell asleep first (jelly in my hair, toes tied together, etc.) and stuff, but I stuck it out and didn’t go home.
It would’ve been too embarrassing to go home!! Better to stay and be tortured.

Between work, school, and my kids, I stay very busy, but I keep up with the the important stuff. The things that I neglect are fairly minor (laundry, clutter, etc.), but I’ve got a couple of fish tanks that need to be cleaned out bad. I think the fish in those tanks are about to evolve legs so they came escape.
