Shit, here comes some more claims of being a brown noser but you’re wrong on this one Frank. The Revenge of the polls thread was a simple ATMB question to the Admins. TubaDiva’s first post to the thread was crappy but within 9 minutes she came back, made a lame joke at Rico’s (very minor expense) and answered the question. She is constantly closing questions in the ATMB once they are answered.
If **placebo **wants an actually discussion with members he should try a thread designed for discussion and I don’t know maybe put it in IMHO.

Ed does not have tech staff. Ed has volunteers and **TubaDiva **to do the updating of the Straight Dope pages and few other things. Jerry works for Creative Loafing in a separate department from Ed.

I’ve received her snark in email, and it was snark for no reason whatsoever. She wasn’t outright rude, but her sarcastic tone was enough to remove any question from my mind as to why people leave the SDMB.

Same here. All, and I do mean all, of my interactions with her over the years have been nothing short of pleasant.
If Rico had an issue that’d be one thing. But seeing as he doesn’t I’m at a loss to understand why anyone else would presume to get pissed off for him. People trying to judge or interject influence on the dynamic between two others just violates the hell out of common decency.
I think part of the problem is that she projects a very different persona on the board than she does via e-mail. Like others here I’ve had to e-mail her for help with my account, and during PTP I sent a suggestion that would have made more work for Jerry and has been mooted by the return to free posting anyway. In all cases she was polite and friendly.
Which is what makes some of her posts in ATMB so weird. It can’t be the repetitive nature of some of the questions; I was about the bazillion-and-first person to inadvertently lock himself out of his account. Add to her board personality some baggage and a not-undeserved bad rep and you get people reading a lot into every post she makes. Human nature, really – watch a precision pitcher go up against someone with control issues and see who gets the calls on the edge of the plate.
In total, I think the first post was pretty much what I’d expect from any mod who hadn’t seen the links. Opening a new thread right after the closure of another is pretty much guaranteed to get snarked at. The last half of her second post is also no problem:
would have been just fine (and even better as a first reply, had she read the links) but delivering a smack to Rico, even a relatively mild one, seems like an attempt to shift all the blame his way for the mistake instead of at least sharing it.
(I mean, really: The links were right there!)
So, yeah. Not the Tubazilla we’ve come to know and pit, but snippier than was really necessary.

TubaDiva has been courteous and helpful to me on several occasions. The powers that be must think she is doing a good job or, supposedly, she wouldn’t be doing it. I’d hate to see her duties handed over to anyone else, especially some of the people who are complaining in this thread.
