anyone know why they release new albums on tuesdays?
is it just an arbitrary day they picked and then stuck to it, or is there a reason for it?

Well, now I know to search for new MP3s on Wednesdays.
It’s easier to make sure a store has stock of an album on Tuesday than Monday (which seems like it would make more sense) because of the way shipping works, and also, if there was a mistake and a store didn’t get their stock of the album, it’s easier to correct this problem on a Monday and have it rectified on a Tuesday than if a weekend is involved.
A few labels will try for a major record they think will do well to have a Monday release date. The expenses involved for shipping alone, let alone that you then have label and distributor folks working weekends to ensure everything is set for Monday, make this quite complex and expensive. As such, it’s rarely done.

Cuz tuesday is the slowest day of the week. As a matter of fact, that’s why videos come out that day too.
However, the store often has them in stock several days beforehand, they just can’t put them out.

I’m serious about this. For years we’ve been holding “Win it before you can buy it” contests with the instructions to pick up the record (now CD) on Monday and you’ll have it before the stores release it.
