Turkey Trots To Water- A Holiday MMP

Vacation. This is MMP.

Let me know how you like the Vieux Carrés.

Yeah, I hate that one too. Developed macular scars in 1978 and have to do that one yearly. Gives boring a whole new definition.

I knowed that. Just had to razz you.

Unless I’ve missed it too, no-one appears to have organised one, so it doesn’t look like it unless anyone steps forward for a last minute one. I did think abut it, but it’s soooo expensive for most people to post to here.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort. Still not sure what the schedule is.

Bummer about the changed plans, red.

Yay for BiL negativity, Wheelie!

red - we found out that FCD’s cousins who have the virus had been to a family hayride… while symptomatic! In fact, the husband had symptoms for over a week and still went. Idiots!! Fortunately, their elderly mother lives in a facility that has been locked down so she’s still ok.

Wheelie - it’s not that there are no plans here. It’s that I don’t have any of my stuff at hand to occupy me. I got so bored, I folded their laundry. Even taking a walk is boring as all the houses in the neighborhood look the same. Plus, frankly, I hate Florida.

Woke at 4 but not ready to get out of bed yet. Once Higgs becomes a pest, that will change. BIL is coming over to do his laundry today, and I hope we can manage a video chat with the kids. And I need to run to the ABC liquor store for the cider my daughter asked us to bring her. Beyond that, nothing.

Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 45 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 73 and N.O.S. for the day. Laundry shall be laundered today and possibly some prep stuff for Turkey Day feast will be accomplished. Sup shall be tacos 'n fixin’s. OLÈ!

red bummer about the TDay plans.

flyboy hope all the bday celebration for the wife went well. I am sure they did.

wheelie good news about the BiL!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! Grim and grey again today over here, I don’t usually need the overhead light on in the morning but today I did. It’s brightened up a bit now so the light’s off again but it is a reminder that winter is not far off. My phone says it’s 51F outside today, so not exactly cold yet.

red sorry to hear your turkey day plans have fallen through, perhaps staying at home in your jammies is a better plan in the end.

flyboy I hope Mrs enjoyed her birthday celebrations, it sounds like you’ve put a lot of effort into making it a special day for her.

wheelie good news about the negative test, fingers crossed for everyone else.

moooom I hav to take lots of stuff to read, and my laptop for entertainment, if we’re vising the relatives, not because I’d necessarily be bored, but I never want to take the chance. If we are in Scotland, it usually means I can deflect the frequent offer of cream buns from his mum while I’m waiting for 'im indoors to wake himself up.

netti sorry to hear about the bus woes, I used to time leaving the house precisely to get the bus, just a minute late and I’d see it go across the road at the bottom of the street before I was halfway down the road. Fortunately ours run on a 10-15 minute schedule so I didn’t usually have to wait too long for the next one. Now I can safely say I have not been on a bus since September, and only once at that point.

nellie shame about the blisters and the tiredness, and the root canal, but you managed a long walk! Go, you!

It’s my friend’s birthday so my only excitement for the day will be going over to his house to drop off beery gifts, and then we’re going grocery shopping tonight. I’d better write my list…

Morning all. A brisk 45F out heading for 65F today. Supposed to be N.O.S., but tomorrow when I travel it’s looking like rain all the way…oh joy.

Need to do some banking, shopping and fill up the gas tank for the trek. Then try to remember to pack everything for 4 days (I’ll head back Sunday). Usually I’ve tra

Oops, hit reply by accident.

boo fae, hope your friend has a beery birthday and may shopping be fun.

FCM, sounds like you got the pick of the litter when it comes to FCD’s family (excepting parents you’re staying with…).

red, enjoy jammies and maybe they make pizza with pumpkin spice…???

nellie, hope the eye doc isn’t to much trouble. Surprised he’s open the day before T’giving.

nettie, I’m guessing too many 0’s on your record and you’re no longer employed, so I understand her being upset. And I agree, being able to go home at lunchtime is nice.

Wheelie, good news on BIL.

OK, need to make myself presentable and go forth and do adult-like things. All y’all take care.

Back from a brisk walk. Some folks around here have some really, um, interesting ideas about yard decor. Like the place with the Virgin Mary statue surrounded by angel statues. Or the place with the pair of bulldog statues wearing sunglasses. It’s something.

MetalMouse - I like my in-laws just fine, but they are old and of a certain mindset… Of course, I won’t be that way when I get old. :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, her birthday is today. I like to plan ahead when I can.

Ah, shit. You’re right!

Ran the thing last year simply because I couldn’t bear the thought of it not happening - life was kiiiiiiinda falling the holy fuck apart - but in all honesty, I simply cannot, this year.

{nudges collective Doper-sphere}

Derping around on the 'Dope and didn’t look up!

First snow of the winter!

Ah, a novel event for a transplanted Texan!
May you enjoy a blissful several months/days/hours before you learn to hate it.

(Edit: why is there a piece of cake next to my name? Does anybody else see that???)

FWIW: I get their Dark Roast and their Café Special. I also get other ones from time to time, such as House Blend and Breakfast Blend. We don’t prefer flavoured coffees, so I never buy them.

I usually wait until they have a 20% off sale, and then I buy enough to get the free shipping. Sometimes they’ll have 30% off sales. Either way, I usually get eight 2-pound bags of ground coffee.

I’m guessing that the SDMP thinks it’s your birthday. If it is, Happy Birthday Wheelie. If it’s not, then nevermind…

Gas tank is full and so is my stomach, need to set the dishes to washing and try to decide what’s in the house to eat tonight that won’t dirty up any plates/glasses. Watching some soccer this afternoon and then packing for travel this evening.

shoe, snow can be pretty in small doses…just wait awhile…

FCM, know what you mean, hope I don’t get that way either (excuse me, there are kids I need to chase off my lawn…)

All y’all take care this afternoon.

Off on the annual Thanksgiving trip this morning. Three days in the desert with pod people. This will be the first time Tango has been left unsupervised. I hope the other cats school him as to the proper procedure, which is to just hunker down and ride it out until the fud-giver person gets back. I have someone coming in to check on them Wednesday, so that will help.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! Give thanks for what you have been blessed with and do not focus on what you (and we) have all lost.

In SDMB’s way, it’s the anniversary of the date you joined da ‘Dope. We are over the moon you are here, BTW.
