Howdy Y’all! We went and et N.O.L. at the hog trough GC and then achieved nappage. It’s been cold, dreary, and drizzly all day. A snooze in a warm cave was just the thing. Netflix and even more chillage shall ensue.
{{{shades}}} just take care of yourself, OK? Maybe you should get tested, especially since you’re sick. Wouldn’t hurt I should think. Mostly though, take care of yourself and get well soonest.
MOOOOOOM the best y’all can do is offer. Bein’ old sucks.
nettie, IME, goldbricks are kept around as long as they don’t screw up too badly and show up every day. The old bat who just quit / got fired / retired was one for 15 years until reduced staff and different management decided not to put up with it.
dicey, you may be surprised. I graduated from high school 40 years ago in May and mine is still kicking. She posts stuff about trips to and from their place in Michigan and a lot of dad-type jokes. Shoot, some of my elementary school teachers are still kicking (nuns live forever). I usually pop into the old nuns’ home to visit with a couple of them when I go back up north.
nellie, I have a couple of rolly carts, but neither is a babushka cart. One is a garden cart that I use to take big / loose trash to the dumpster or move a buncha stuff in from the car (I park ~150 feet from my front door). The other is a craft cart that gets used (or did pre pandemic) to take the craft project for the heathen children when we have our monthly meeting.
OW, meeting the dog is a litmus test. If Nelson doesn’t like a guy upon meeting, then it’s our last date. The little guy is a good judge of character.

I irked until 1:30, then knocked off and went grocery shopping. I decided to give that next to the last pair of Sketchers that I bought and didn’t seem comfortable in another try today. They’re back in the GW donation box. I wore them maybe 3 times. I did the same with the last pair, thinking that the pair before was a fluke. By the time I got home this afternoon, I was limping. My bum ankle, knee and back were killing me. I actually changed into the Crocs before taking Nelson outside. I’m fixing to go to Fleet Feet and spend some serious cash on a pair or two of irk sneakers or go back to Reeboks.
Last evening, during KP, I broke the carafe to my French press. One is on the way from da Jungle, but tomorrow, I’ll either drink espresso or tea. Supper was ribs from the drive thru. Burp!
Evening all. Did do a little shopping, but it’s in the 30’s F and kinda wet and nasty outside, so stayed pretty much close to home the rest of the day. Did solve my regular Sudoku’s and Jumbles, but the triple one is got me stumped so far (will regroup and try again later). Indoor soccer tomorrow, so that will at least get me out of the house and mildly active.
FCM, based on family, sadly one of the folks will probably have to pass away before you can get the other re-located. Right now they are just reinforcing each other. Damn shame.
Had to toss my ‘shopping’ shoes, older pair that I could comfortably walk in. Now need to break in a pair a bought last year but Have very seldom used. Oh joy.
{{shady}}, take care, see about getting tested, and get thee to the hospital if symptoms get worse. Hopefully it is no more severe than the flu (hard to believe I’m typing that…).
Mooomm, bobbio the second, I’m a bit of a cruise-alcoholic too. Have eyed that Southhampton trip before, also some out of Barcelona, Spain that also visit Italy (two places I’ve never been). And still planning on the Antarctic for my 70th Birthday present (this will be over by 2023 I hope).
Nut , hope it all works out and the move is made without to much involvement by the Demon Murphy.
OK, back to reading the Washington news and trying to think of other things to do. take care all.
I thought about that because he told me how much the dog means to him as his last link to his late wife. We sat on opposite sides of his living room and the dog came up on the couch and sat in my lap a couple of times. GC said the dog doesn’t normally sit on anyone’s lap but his.
At least it wasn’t like my one former neighbor. If she had a date over, her dog would drag one of his stuffies into the room and get his freak on in front of them.
Morning, mumpers! It’s bright and shiny over here for a change. The weather app says “Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Too bad it’s a grey bucket of suck outside” and promises me 1C/34F up to 2C/35F, cloudy with fog. Errr…blue skies and sun, actually!
OW looks like the dog has made the decision for you, clearly a mutt with good taste. I had a cat that would sort the wheat from the chaff for me, if she like you then she wouldn’t hiss, spit or bite. That was her best offer.
Mooom sorry to hear FCD’s parents are still being very stubborn. Sadly I think others are right and it will take something serious to happen to one of them before relocation becomes part of the thinking. Do you think it would make much of a difference to their attitude if his father lost his driving licence, leaving them much less able to get around?
Nut good luck with the move, will you be going all TOWIE on us? Being that much older than you, I can remember when big chunks of Essex were still parts of Greater London! I’m also on the hunt for a new job, today’s inbox offering is a rather interesting one in St Andrews that I have about a month to apply for.

Nothing much going on here today, yesterday was an absolute 'mare with work but I think I managed to get on top of most of it, we have a two-week assessment period starting on Monday that involves take-home papers, for which my spreadsheet has 1,112 student entries that need to be properly monitored. It makes my brain hurt.
Consequently, I have no plans for the day apart from an hour’s Rockfit session at some point, a bit of reading and a nice long soak in the bath. Not my turn to provide dinner tonight so that means I can have a relatively slothful day. I have no need to go into town, so no real need to venture outside unless I want to go for a walk and a bit of fresh air. We’ll see…
That’s something I’ve thought about, too, and I don’t know. FCD’s youngest brother lives near them and he drives… barely. He has mental and emotional problems, and he didn’t learn to drive till he was in his 50s. He’s terrified of highways and any driving situation out of the ordinary. He could handle trips to the grocery store, but if he had to take one of them to the Emergency Room, I don’t know…
They don’t have smart phones, so Uber is out of the question. I have no idea what cab service is like in their city. It’s just a bad situation all around and there’s really nothing we can do until they change their minds… if they ever do. It’s a tough situation all around.
I had a decent sleep, which I needed. I’m thinking to day I may make a convenience center run - we’ve got lots of recycling piling up, plus trash cans filling from our various organizing chores. I will tread the mill today, and I might even swish a wet mop over the kitchen floor. Or not. To be determined. Whatever happens will happen.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 40 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 49 and mostly cloudy for the day. A good day to be inside, I say. Nowhere we need to go today and nowhere we want to go today, so yay for that. Sloth shall rule the agenda! We shall sup upon soup and some crusty bread which I could turn into cheesey garlic bread.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Morning all. Dreamed that I was in a cave and got stuck in the exit (being a gentleman with a generous waistline this is not impossible), so up a little early today. Soccer starts at around 11am and goes to 5pm, so will eat something early.
boofae, I have also dealt with spreadsheets in the thousands of lines (in my case it was repair parts and not people, but still quite detailed to keep up). Hang in there and my your fingers never type the wrong thing.
OW, dog in lap is nice. What kind?
OK, need to get caffeinated and do some planning pre-soccer. All y’all take care.
I have scooped the cat box, tread the mill, and picked up basement toys. After lunch, I’ll do the trash/recycle run. Still need to empty the dishwasher. But for the moment, I need to rehydrate and chill a bit.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, towels and sheets in the wash ready for the dryer, freezer cleaned out, a pot of veggie broth on the stove for freezing later and fixing to do KP, transfer the sheets and towels to the dryer and throw a load of jeans in. Once that’s done, I’ll get showered and sheveled and head in to Nashville. There’s a charity thrift shop that I just found out about that specializes in craft supplies. They’re having some big sales today. Once I have a look-see, I may have some stuff that hasn’t sold on Marketplace to donate.
We’re hiding out in Central Orygun again. Drove over yesterday. The Daughter unit and her Hubby came over last night. He’s doing some kind of training here with the local ambulance service/fire dept. on Sunday, so we have them for the whole weekend, which is nice.
Orygun is a beautiful state and we love it here, but it’s run by a passle of idjits. The guvner has appointed a committee of 27 fools, all of them representing different special-interest groups, to decide who gets the vaccine, and when.
They meet once a week.
At this rate, we’ll get vaccinated around 2025.
#deep cleansing breaths#
In cheerier news, Wifey is currently making homemade cinnamon rolls.
The children are still abed. It feels funny calling them ‘the children’, they’re in their late 50’s and are talking about retirement, but from our perspective, they are.
Mom, It’s not my business, and please don’t take this the wrong way, but FCD’s folks prolly feel about moving to Merrylande the same way you feel about moving back to Floriduh.
It’s gonna take a while.
Bumba - They don’t want to move - doesn’t matter where. They’ve been where they are for 20 years and they don’t want to uproot and start again. I understand that part. What I don’t get is why they can’t see how vulnerable they are and (to be selfish) how hard it is on us to have to deal with them long distance. So FCD is making sure their neighbors have his phone number and that’s all we can do, till the inevitable day when we have to sort thru their stuff and sell the place. Because ain’t no way we’ll ever want to live there.
Incidentally, my MIL still refers to her sons as “the boys” even tho they’re all over 60. I think that’s pretty typical. We call our daughter and SIL “the kids” - and they’re in their 30s… so closer to kids, but still.
Back from taking the trash and recycling, plus putting gas in the truck. I took a little detour from the convenience center to the WaWa along a road I’ve only driven once before. I passed a neighborhood called John Wayne Estates. Check out the various street names.
My mom’s picking my dad up at noon. I’m sure he’s had enough of that place, and they will both be happy to see each other in person.
Webcam not too far from my parents shows nice weather. I know my mom’s getting pretty fed up with the rain they’ve been having.
Got some sort of chicken vege soup on the stove and made corn muffins. Now the blueberry muffins are baking. It never got above freezing today and it’s good weather for soup and baked goods.
So very glad to read both of these things. Hope we soon get to hear more about the reunion and how much they are enjoying being able to be together in person.
