TV Funhouse fans

I just saw someone mention TV Funhouse in another thread. Are there any other dopers that are fans of this great tv show? Is there anyway to get copies of this show? I’d do anything to get my hands on it (well, almost anything). I doubt that it will ever show up on DVD but I can hope.

Comedy Central will play them every now and then for you video recording pleasure. Just like they do with “That’s My Bush”, “Gerhard Reinke’s Wanderlust” and their other short run series. According to CC’s schedule they’re playing Chinese New Years Day, Western Day, Hawaiian Day and the Christmas Episode on March the 7th.

It is pretty funny. I love the bit where the dog (Fogey) vows to give up eating his own crap. So instead he’s eating “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Poop.”

“I’m going to Thank Goodness It’s Friday” for lunch!

I simply can’t understand why I liked this show, but I did. To me, it seems like exactly the type of thing that’ll make it to DVD sooner or later (short run means low production costs and the cult nature means that while most folks will turn up their noses, the people who liked the show will have to have the DVD).

TV Funhouse was a beautiful show. I’m glad I have all the episodes on tape, but I’d love to see a DVD set that also had all the SNL bits.

Thanks for the tip! I haven’t seen many episodes and can’t wait to catch these.

Anything with a scene at the “You Eat What You Are” restaurant!

I’ve never heard of this series. Isn’t “TV Funhouse” the name on the credits of SNL’s Robert Smeigel cartoons?

It’s an expanded version of what Smeigel did with his cartoons on SNL. Info here…

Set your Tivo’s/VCR’s. According to Yahoo’s TV listings Comedy Central is showing four shows in a row in the early morning hours of March 8th. No other airings on the schedule…

There was something so irreverant about this show. First, I found the opening creidts to be hilarious! It was a cartoon with a disorented kid (hey, what’s happening) being prodded down the stairs in the middle of the night by his dad, only to watch TV Funhouse. Just hilarious. What theme of the day is it, kids! I actually met Robert Smeigel and was in a Triumph the Insult Comic Dog skit. I’m still looking for that on DVD. I hope he expands his cartoon series full lenght *a la * the Simpsons.

'Ze Tail!!! 'Ze Evil Tail!!! Damn you!!!

So Comedy Central aired 4 episodes last night. I had my TIVO-like product all ready to record. I was up and watched the first episode. It was great watching it again. Started the second episode and it was even better than the first. Half-way through, my power went out. The entire block went black. I couldn’t believe it. The worst possible time, the only time I actually cared. And of course, it comes back on during the last 5 minutes of the last episode. Times like this makes me believe in God. And he’s a mean, petty God. At least I got to watch an entire episode.

I have nothing to contribute, save to add my name to the roll call of fans. Oh, and the following quit from http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=1550&Nav=Yes

“Also in-the-works is a DVD featuring Triumph the Insult Comic Dog’s appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. We first had a heads-up about this a month ago, when one of our readers, “Mike,” had gone to be in the audience of Saturday Night Live, and in the lobby encountered none other than Robert Smigel. Smigel is, of course, the person behind the Insult Dog. Besides being Triumph, Smigel also works on the “TV Funhouse” cartoons which air on SNL, which explains his being there. Reader Mike asked Smigel about DVD plans for the “TV Funhouse” cartoons, and Smigel told him that music rights would be an obstacle for those. However, Smigel went on to tell Mike that this summer there will be a DVD of Triumph’s Conan segments.”
