Another 50-list for TV Guide’s 50th. Discuss.
Since I saw some confusion in other discussions elsewhere on the web: Bill’s the sad little scrap of paper from Schoolhouse Rock, Arthur’s the aardvark, and Alvin’s the chipmunk.

What?! No Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse?
An interesting note is that Bugs Bunny (as well as Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Daffy Duck, Mickey Mouse, Popeye, Heckle & Jeckle and many others on the list ) weren’t even developed for television but for film… I guess that makes Homer the #1 original television character.
Zev Steinhardt
I think the list is crap. That Bobby Hill even made the list is bizarre.
The list is too filled with flavours of the week like SquareBob SpongePants.
Pikachu? PIKACHU???
For cryin’ out loud, that thing isn’t a character!
And how can Ms Frizzle from the Magic School Bus not be on that list? I like Arthur, but she (and the rest of the MSB cast) are better than him any day of the week.
(And yes, trivia buffs, I know that Lily Tomlin provided her voice.)
Josie and f*****g Pussycats?
You have got to be kidding!
Who the Smurf is that???
The best Bugs Bunny cartoons weren’t done for TV. They were theatrical releases. Just because a theatrical release was shown on TV, does it mean that it’s a “TV cartoon”.
Should I consider “Citizen Kane” the best TV movie of all time because I saw it on TV first?
There have been some Bugs Bunny cartoons drawn directly for TV, but they are not as good as the cinematic versions.
Where’s Optimus Prime?
I believe he’s a Dr. Seuss character - didn’t know they made a TV show or special out of him.
I’m a little irked by Lisa and Bart Simpson being put together. Lisa does not hold her own when compared to “this century’s Dennis the Menace”. And even if she did end up being prominent, it’s because they needed her now excessive whininess to bring up new plots. And don’t get my started on the seventeen different times she’s “finally found intellectualy equals she can converse with!!!”
I’m glad that Beavis and Butthead got the recognition they deserve (#4). They are icons permanently etched into the psyche of a generation…uhhhh, or something, heh-heh.
No Speedy Gonzales? No Herman and Catnip? No Ricochet Rabbit? No Secret Squirrel?
:smack:
No Dick Dasterdly? No Snidely Whiplash? No Savoir Faire? (Savoir Faire is everywhere!)
No Muttley?!
That list is a bunch of bull-hockey!
Angelica Pickles number 7?!
I also agree with the ‘Bobby Hill’ deal…no friggen’ way.
Where the hell is:
Speedy Gonzalez
Goofy
Alvin and the Chipmunks
The Angry Beavers!!!
Any of the Schoolhouse Rock gang
Foghorn Leghorn
damn…!
Not to mention…
Grape Ape
Quickdraw McGraw(El Ka-Bang!)
There are so many others that should’ve been there…I’m bummed now.
Alvin is number 44, Bill (as in I’m Just a Bill, and I really want to do that as a Halloween costume someday) is number 34.
I certainly take issue with some of their choices, but let me think for a bit about who I’d take off and who I’d put on. I also take issue with a list of the 50 greatest cartoon characters that has 66 characters on it.
[sub]I think it’s 66, how many Pussycats were backing up Josie, anyway?[/sub]
it REALLY seems like they just whipped that up in 5 minutes
Bobby Hill is too low.
Alvin doens’t belong anywhere enar the list. Neither does Angelica Pickles.
TV Guide can’t do anything right!!! Do they even list TV show times anymore??
No Pink Panther?
