I understand. My knowledge of British TV (to say nothing of other countries) does not extend much beyond Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Benny Hill, Downton Abbey, and Call the Midwife.
Hey, I like each of these shows. Maybe I should seek out more.
mmm
My guess is the only reason Python’s on the list is that it was aired in America on PBS stations across the country. Though in 1974 NBC did try introducing Python to the public with sketch clips during a summer replacement series.
About half of them. Some of those I’ve seen maybe 15 minutes of, or bits and pieces in passing, but I was honest about if I’d seen entire episodes, start-to-finish.
I’m not too surprised that I’ve not seen the shows many consider so great. Subject matter and genre are more important to me than quality when choosing what to watch. I don’t care if it’s the greatest show about knitting and seashell collecting ever made, it’s not my thing so I’m not watching it.
The Sopranos
The Wire
Breaking Bad
The Oprah Winfrey Show
Mad Men
Friends
ER
The Waltons
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Survivor
Sex and the City
Late Night/Late Show with David Letterman
The West Wing
Modern Family
Dallas
American Idol
The Shield
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
Homicide: Life on the Street
Battlestar Galactica (2004)
I’ve seen parts of episodes, but not IIRC whole episodes of any of the above.
I’m jumping the gun for this summary/update since I will probably not catch the 200th voter’s moment. To compare progress of the voting see Post #21 51; Post #43 98; Post #72 152

I checked 27 of the 60, but that figure may not be 100% accurate. When I was a kid, we often had the TV on during supper, and so I at least absorbed many episodes to which I wasn’t actually paying attention. Examples would be Star Trek, Gunsmoke, and MASH*.
No surprise almost everybody’s seen The Twilight Zone, as those who were born too late to enjoy it during its original run have an annual opportunity to catch the Syfy New Year’s Day marathon (which always, AFAIK, features “A Stop at Willoughby”). And not only have most Dopers viewed Jeopardy!, but dozens of us have appeared on the show!
