If y’all haven’t heard already, the “Dr. Laura” TV show has been canceled. It might run through fall (reruns), but after that it is gone for good.
And there was much rejoicing.

I can just hear her explanation on her radio show why he TV show got cancelled.
Dr. Laura: “Those heathens only want to see sex and nudity on TV and clearly I have never stooped down to that level!”
Caller: “Umm… Dr. Laura, I’m looking at those nude pictures of you, right now!”
Dr. Laura: click “Enough with those heathens, on to why elmo from Sesame Street is the Devil’s pawn to turn all our young impressionable boys into gasp HOMOSEXUALS!…”
You know that its demise will be blamed on gays, lesbians, the Godless, liberals and heartless single parents.
In fact it should be blamed on people with good taste (which should be translated as “credited to” rather than “blamed on”).

I’ll tell you the real reason why her show got canned…
It sucked.
I mean, the whole “I’m a pretentious bitch” thing wasn’t what stopped it. The whole “Gays are destroying the world” thing wasn’t what stopped it. What ruined the show was the fact that it was fucking BORING!
I caught a clip of it last night. She was showing pictures of cars in parking lots and making lame jokes. “This guy parked in a no-parking zone… I guess he thinks that rule doesn’t apply to him! Ha ha ha!” ::crickets chirping:: “Don’t you get it? Nevermind, here’s a guy who parked in a handicapped zone without a handicapped placard! I guess he thinks that rule doesn’t apply to him! Ha ha ha!” ::crickets chirping, a random guy shouts “You suck, Schlessinger!”::
You’d think she’d try to NOT copy Jay Leno or Conan O’Brien… at least, she’d try to NOT copy them BADLY.
I still say the show had value-as fodder for MST3K! Can you imagine what Mike and the 'Bots would’ve done to her?
I like Dr. Laura.

Her “Do the right thing” made me a convert back to Ricki Lake…silly woman, no one wants to see that moral shit on TV we want shows like:
“You’re fat but you aint all that!”
“The father of my child has just gone wild.”
“I want to meet a lesbian stud.”
“The Ricki Lake Calendar Men”
etc…
I love that stuff and I usually do the right thing which is why I crave learning about other people’s lifestyles. And peering into things I never see in this conservative city.
Hey when you live 5 minutes from Focus on the Family you gotta watch those kind of talk shows. And I love how they hype it up…

Dave, I am not kidding, it was a topic last week on Ricki Lake’s show…
These aren’t your run of the mill lesbians (and we love em all) but these are women that seek to satisfy their women lovers (many are straight women) and not recieve anything in return.
I think some men need to learn from these women. < grin >
