TV shows BEGGING to be remade

I believe a Highlander reboot is in the works as we speak, though I can’t speak to the majors of the writers involved.

This sounds good. I hated the actor shuffle.

But I thought there could “be only one”!

Dark Shado–

Oh wait…

My Mother the Car: This could be the greatest psycho-sexual comedy of all time. David Crabtree is a mama’s boy, to the point where he eschews the company of other women. No matter how many women his mother sets him up on dates with, none of them are as good as dear old mother. Unfortunately for David, Mr. Manzini has been courting David’s mother, Gladys, and wedding bells are ringing. In a fit of rage, David kills his mother and immediately regrets it. Fortunately, Manzini is actually a powerful wizard from the old country and agrees to help David bring his mother to life. Unfortunately, Gladys is actually reborn in the body of a 1965 Mustang Coup (or maybe a 1982 Trans Am).

David is able to purchase this automobile from a gypsy car seller (Irish Traveler maybe). Finally he has mother all to himself and can get insider her and ride her at will. Meanwhile, Mr. Manzini is attempting to do all he can to get the car for himself and save his true love from such a vile fate.

My thread on the subject.

I agree Quantum Leap is a fantastic choice.

You’re a true patriot, Zeldar.

Ummm…

Though neither of them was nearly as good as the original comic book series, IMHO.

The one that died too soon for me was this one and I knew nothing of the precursors.

Do "I Dream of Jeannie " as a premium channel TV series. Have Tony be a former astronaut, now a Senator, who is a family values type who has to appear to be living in a traditional marriage with his wife. Jeannie is a djinn whose normal dress consists of nothing and who would not think of calling Tony anything other than “Master.” Instead of Dr. Bellows there is a slew of snoopy reporters hot to dig up scandal on Tony. Can Jeannie wish them all into the cornfield before they manage to publish photos of Tony with his naked love slave? Oh, the laughs!

Much as I, personally, would love to see that, I’d bet lots of money that very few in the US would be interested in a WWII combat show anymore. Although who knows, maybe if Red Tails is wildly successful, the networks will jump on the bandwagon. Maybe even a remake of “Black Sheep Squadron.” That could be cool with modern CGI to replace all the old repeated stock footage.

And really, just a single machine gun per Jeep or Deuce and a Quarter? I think the most I’ve seen mentioned was seven or nine, but the practice of speeding down the length of a troop convoy machine gunning everybody they could might seem brutal, even in this more-lenient climate.

I loved Rat Patrol, taking on the whole German Army with a couple of jeeps and a 50 cal.

Re-watch again and you’ll see that in most episodes, it is a .30 cal.. that comes with the jeeps.

Quantum leap is a good one, but I dunno if it would be the same with anyone other than Bakula and Stockwell. Also, if they kept the “within his own lifetime thing” a reboot with a younger actor would mean a lot of stories set in pivotal times would no longer be possible. I mean sure, you could have a new Sam leap into a story about 9/11 or something, but I think a big part of the show’s weight was stories about Sam’s brother and Al in 'Nam or leaping into an era where segregation was still enforced, stuff like that.
One I was thinking about the other night that should be remade, CHiPs. All the cop shows today seem to be so procedural and dark, I’d like to see one that’s more fun. About the closest thing to a fun cop show that I can think of is Psych, and that’s more a fun detective show featuring cops.

The Good Guys was a fun cop show. Of course, it got cancelled…

I would like to see a redone I Dream of Jeannie with modern sensibilities and a lot more skin. I’m not current on who the hottest chick for the role is, but I look forward to seeing a lot of her.

I still dream of Jeannie.
Barbara Eden and Elizabeth Montgomery starred in my fantasies as a youth.

The interesting thing about Barbara Eden’s portrayal was her ability to come off as innocent.
I mean, come on, she called the guy, “Master” and wore that amazing outfit and yet came off like the ‘girl next door’.

Oh yeah, and throw in Mary Tyler Moore as Laura Petrie. I still think of them as the most beautiful women in the history of the universe.
