We’ll see. This place can be pretty addictive, and time can heal all on its own. This might prove to be just a scorch, the Pit being the proverbial ember and all. There are other places to hang out in this party after all.

I like Q.E.D.'s suggestion. grienspace does sometimes go over the top (as now), and he’s pissed me off a few times, but generally he seems a decent sort of fellow. GD and the Pit would be lessened by his absence. This’d be a good time to stop the pile on, and see if he can recover.
But every time he’s come back, it’s been to add more logs to the fire. That’s known as “being stupid” in my neck of the woods.
This is unprecedented in my experience, obviously. The policy is to not shut down trainwrecks just because Pittings backfire. The law of unintended consequences and all… It’s a bit more delicate since I’m finally the target, at least by the OP’s intent. I thought about locking this down as mercy killing of sorts, but I wouldn’t for a similar thread.
All silliness aside, this really isn’t fun. It’s probably best if I defer to Lynn on this one as I have a conflict of interests of sorts.

I remember several Pit threads that fostered even longer trainwrecks than this one which taught any interested some very valuable lessons about certain people.

I deeply appreciate what I’ve heard from tomndebb and TVeblen. I’m feeling a little sheepish and mildly bewildered. I’m going to take it a little easier for now and lay low and maybe figure out exactly where I went wrong. USAMA, please accept my appology and welcome to the SDMB.
