OK, you win! I’m feeling too old for moving, I’m waaayyy too old for more kiddies…
House settlement; can’t move into a house you don’t own.*
Doc, I said ‘did’ as in past tense. Not something I did this week, nor wanna do again.
 I lurves that show.
- Well, you can, but then you’re squatters & subject to eviction.
Blurf Irking as usual. I hope I never need that egress window but before it was in I would have been screwed had a fire broke out in the kitchen/living room where all the doors are. I wanted an actual door instead of a window to go out of but the contractor talked me out of it as there would then have been two front doors and he said that would look stupid so window it is. Actually both bedrooms will have egress windows. They lead out to the walk around deck then it’s ten feet to the ground if the stairs are not available cause they are on fire. A broken leg is better than burning up I figure.
My Christmas tree came yesterday but the decorations won’t be there until today so I get to decorate today. Tis a little late but better late than never. I have zero presents to put under it and there won’t be any since windows and fans are our Christmas presents. One of our customer brought me a bag of cookies yesterday which is just what I needed- NOT.
I have another meeting today and dang it I hope the last one of the year. In January we are scheduled for two whole days to “brainstorm” all our business processes. Man I miss the old Director.
Happy Tuesday all!
My best friend’s house has two front doors.
One, however, leads to the upstairs apartment. It’s a bit confusing the first time you visit her because you have no idea which door to go to.
I had a few clients with two front doors, older houses that had been added onto and the interior layouts were a bit weird too.
Confusing too are the house that have doors on three sides and you have no idea which one to go to. I had a number of clients with houses like that, especially the ones who live on the water and the ‘front’ of the house faces the water.
Or houses that sit sideways on the lot and you have no idea which is the front door and which is the back door because they look alike.
Or the houses in rural areas that have a front door but no sidewalk leading up to it, because it never gets used.
Another client lived on a corner and I guess the real ‘front’ door was the one with the mailbox, but going in that door was pointless as it was at the end of the house with nothing there. Just a small entryway then a long hallway leading to the stairs and living room. The other ‘front’ door led into the living room. However, they used the side door that led into the mud room /laundry room/pantry.
Anyway, I wouldn’t think two front doors was weird, just confusing until you figure out which one to knock on.
Butters, me brudder put in a bedroom in the basement and had to get an egress window, including a ladder dug into a hole outside so that someone trapped there had a way out in a fire (looking at the window and ladder, I think I would have died before making it out of there…)
Sari, while I’m glad your speeling very well, you’re not spelling very good…
Alien, hope both you and the house come through that storm OK; sounds pretty nasty.
I actually don’t watch that much TV these days; I will admit to being fond of Storage Wars, however. And I do watch re-runs of MASH when I can, because even when they were bad they were palatable and when they are good (as they often are), they are as good as anything TV has done. (IMHO as always; YMMV)
48F going to 56F later and N.O.S. Need to get out and mail some bills but otherwise not much on the agenda.
I has 12 shirts in the car to go to the dry cleaners; wonder if I should name them?
Lunch break! And I need it. Creo has been a first-class bitch this morning.
But I love my job…
OK - up and functioning. Have played with dogs. 2 are sleeping and one is watching me and ready to go for the next round. Puppeh!!
Other than that, I drive 'Beamette to her doctor for her migraines and then collapse in a heap.
Happy Toesday!
My work day is almost done. Tomorrow is our facility party - I’ve been instructed to wear FCD’s ugly Christmas sweater, so I shall.
Busy day, but I got a lot done, and there’s lots more to be done tomorrow. But, yeah, party.
Oh, I understood. Just letting you know that I will not be vying to surpass that misery. Not in that manner of stress and exhaustion, at least!
Miller time; I’m outta here.
We had our annual “pig out” day at work. Everyone brings in a dish to pass and we all pig out. And this is a sizeable company. There were probably over 100 dishes to choose from and a bunch of people threw some money in and bought a ton of buffalo wings. There was so much food. I’ve been munching all day and now I feel gross.
Well, now it’s about time for me to leave work and go out to dinner with the in-laws. I think I’m just ordering a salad.
Supper was Bad Chinese because I had a hankerin’. Before I go to bed, I need to mix up the deviled egg filling - I’ll assemble the eggs at work tomorrow. Other than that, a lazy evening.
Metal mouse. ITA when it comes to all things MASH … my fave show ever. Irk was a tiny bit less irksome than yesterday, but that ain’t sayin’ much… I am ashamed to admit I watched Maury Povich for a few minutes today ( breakroom teevee at irk) now I want to find out how it ended. I think we are having tacos for dindin at la casa de Janis. other than that, I is whupped.
I hope Ripple is just tired and not sick.
I had shrimp for dinner and he was sleeping on the couch next to me. I don’t eat the tails, I give them to him, no shells, I just think the tails look gross. He didn’t even sit up, he would open his eyes, eat the shrimp and go back to sleep.
I guess if he were sick he’d not eat at all.
Skritches Ripple Hope he’s ok
I just found out Penny Marshall died… and now I has a sad
I’m sorry about your cousin shady. It sounds like her kids have had a rough life.
**{{{bumba and friend}}}
butters**, in my last apartment, I had a rope ladder on the back deck because I was on the second floor. The house that I grew up in was built in 1860 and has a couple of additions, making for two front doors. The one that is the entrance to the kitchen (the back door enters the kitchen as well) is the one that is used. The one entering the living room used to be used in teh summer but not in the winter because plastic went over it.
I told the PITA cow-orker that I would not be placing any more irk in my queue after today. Her attitude was oh, poor me, look at all of the work I have to do now. :dubious: Fortunately, the boss backed me up. It’s not like there will be much in there for the rest of the year anyway.
The floors are mopped, several rounds of fetch have been played and supper et. I’m going to finish a layout in the studio and chill.
I rarely like the outcome when I get a certified letter, so yesterday was no exception. The slip from USPS said the sender was my divorce attorney. Divorce was final late October, 2017, so I kind of got bothered that I was getting certified mail from Mr. Lawyer. Had to go to the branch office to pick it up today. Amazing thing is it wasn’t about some foolishness my ex had decided to get into. In fact it was a refund check for 4.8% of the retainer I paid Mr. Lawyer in March, 2017.
Another letter today was just first class mail, but from the IRS. It told me that the appeal I have with them will be answered within 60 days. So that’s okay. For now.
George, getting money back from a lawyer is always a good thing (it is also a rare thing, or so I’ve heard). Hope the IRS also ends well.
Skritches for Ripple, Sari.
Juliet, our office used to do the same thing (only 40-50 people though). I baked brownies, the one thing I can do fairly well (one pan with walnuts, one without).
Note that spidey hasn’t posted since saying it was Miller Time. Apparently a lot of Millers to see…
Credit cards paid for the month, but then used them to buy 30 ‘forever’ stamps from the post office lobby machine. The stamps all have Santa on them, so people will be seeing his jolly face until Memorial day on my postage.
Eating Mac-N-Cheese for dinner as I type this (type a sentence, eat a couple of forkfuls).
All y’all take care.
All the windows are in except two so they will definitely finish tomorrow. I got the Christmas tree out of the box and put together but still not decorated nor fluffed. I just could not do it today. We had another four hour meeting today.
Red. Geez I didn’t even think of a rope ladder. I think I shall look for one and buy it. Better than a broke leg.
Night all.
