twickster's "knock it the fuck off"

As one of the Offending Posters, I wasn’t going to comment here. However:

Not at all my style, baby.

Look back through that thread (if you’ve got time on your hands) and you’ll see multiple examples of snark from various people which probably exceeded the unofficial MPSIMS snark limit but drew no moderator comment. Then one poster went off the deep end and started cursing at me*, which led to the “knock it the fuck off” remark (which I’m not complaining about; twickster did move the thread to GD where apparently a higher snark and angst level is acceptable).

Anyway, meh.

*apparently my sin was to correct his reference to Swedes, when it was actually Swiss. Go figure.

I can only speak for myself, but I tend not to use such language in conversation, and not in posting, unless I really want to make a forceful comment. I vaguely remember one thread where I had been really nice, many times, telling people to cut it out, and they kept bear-baiting, and I used some harsh term for emphasis. Got a lot of shit for it, too, but there are some situations where it seems called for.

I apologise for adding ‘fuck off too’ into my post, but it does have a slightly different meaning in this context and was in no way intended as an insult to the OP.

The SDMB is full of swearing and cuss words. It truly surprised me that drewtwo99 was complaining about twick’s language, and his desire to raise the tone of the board just struck me as incredibly funny. Hence my suggestion, that if he finds the board too offensive, he should leave (or fuck off, same meaning here in Australia).

But I won’t do it again: knuckles suitably rapped.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed wholeheartedly.
