Twilight Revealed (Major Spoilers for Buffy: Season 8)

Dark Horse leaked a cover for Buffy: Season Eight #34, and we finally find out who Twilight is.

Obviously, lots of fans are having aneurysms over it – and not the funny kind – but I’m just befuddled, and a bit let down. Twilight’s identity is the only thing about S8 I’ve really been interested in for the past two years, and this is the reveal? I’ve never been one of those fans who feel like he delights in twisting knives in wounds, and I’m no fan of the character it’s revealed to be, but I can see why a lot of the more hardcore fans would feel betrayed by this.

In any case, I think this is possibly the dumbest thing he’s ever done in this mythos. So lame.

I do in fact feel betrayed by this, and I don’t even read the stupid comics. I hate Joss. He can DIAF.

Comics? What comics? *Buffy *was a TV show.

Season 8 is the canonical continuation as a comic, with Joss overseeing all of it, and writing a few issues himself.

Sounds like somebody’s been taking “Take a dump all over your fans” lessons from George Lucas.

Oh, I don’t know. If true, it really is so…Joss. We have miles to go before we sleep, so I’m willing to wait to see what develops.

So … I don’t follow Season 8. But I am getting a kick in learning that Buffy’s evil arch nemesis is TWILIGHT. How very meta!

(Also, I like that it kinda vindicates Xander’s dislike for the Broody One.)

But the big question is not who is Twilight, but why and how did that character become Twilight?

Replace “canonical” with “Joss approved/written fanfic”. K, thx, bye. ;):D:p

Now, on to serious matters. Does Twilight sparkle in the sun?

Joss approved/written means canonical, smilies notwithstanding.

The only way this works is if Angel, through his actions, is averting the rise of something even more horrific and destructive. If true it means that Joss has continued escalating the stakes even in the comic book spinoff (Sorting Algorithm Of Evil-basically, each new Big Bad has to be more threatening than the last one) just as he did thru the run of the series on TV. In any event this makes me even less likely to pick up the graphic novels when the series run finally ends.

I gave up on Joss after I read about what he’d done to Shadowcat when he was writing X-Men.

It’s like the man finds intense sexual gratification in destroying the characters and worlds he creates, but only after he’s gotten thousands of people emotionally invested in them.

You really should read the arc he did with Astonishing X-Men. Marvelous story, witty dialog, and contrary to what you might have read Kitty isn’t dead. Just not reachable right now. This is Marvel. Kitty’s dead like Jean Grey is dead.

Edward!
