Two questions about Rogue...

  1. Where did she get her “permeanent” power of invulnerbility/super strength?
  2. Other than that, has she ever had other powers that stayed for a good amount of time?(Say 1 year real time, something like that).

from the official Marvel Bio site:

And here is a site for Ms. Marvel.

Since that one’s more or less answered, another question about Rogue.

Wasn’t there a point in time where it was said that Gambit was immune to Rogue’s power? I seem to remember something from one of the comic’s letter pages, but if this was ever true, it seems as if it isn’t anymore. Anyone have the official word?

I stopped collecting and reading shortly after the Age of Apocalypse storyline, And as far as I know, Gambit did have the hots for rogue, and there was something “beginning” there. I was under the impression that he wasn’t immune, but just didn’t care about what would happen, or wasn’t afraid of it.

But then again, from what i’ve heard about all the strange crap they’ve done to the X-titles since I stopped collecting, I wouldn’t put something like that past 'em

I’m not sure about this 'cos I don’t read the X-men comics, but I think in Gambit’s own comic series, the writers are making his powers bigger and better than ever, and I think they’ve given him the power to create a sort of force field around himself, allowing him to touch Rogue.

Don’t quote me on it tho.

I know, you said don’t quote you… but…

If they are doing it,
How could he even kiss her if he does have a forcefield? It’s just like before, except Gambit can no longer touch anybody without the forcefeld interferring.

Well, I know they have done the whole “forcefield” thing before with Rouge, but that was in the AoA, and with Magneto (obviously a magnetic forcefield). She was even able to bear him a child by this method, which I would think is even more difficult than mere kissing.

Deus ex Machina. Works every time. And often, at least in X-titles.

I never understood why Rogue never developed a latex bodysuit fetish. Seems fairly straightforward to me…

Rogue looked as if she was in her 40s during her first appearance in Avengers Annual #10.

She even was able to absorb Thor’s powers, which I doubt she’d be able to do today.

While she has absorbed a plethora of powers, she’s only kept Ms. Marvel’s powers, and for a time her psyche, permanentely.

Indeed. She tried to absorb Loki’s powers during the X-Men/Alpha Flight 2-part mini-series in the mid 80s and failed to do so.

No no, the Gambit forcefield thing was different to Magneto’s. It’s in his own spinoff comic series.

I know I said don’t quote me on it, but I googled it and found this on http://24.191.192.76:8000/gambit.html

It mentions how Gambit’s power at their full potential enable him to control all manners of kinetic energy, allowing him to fire energy blasts, defy gravity and effectively exist as energy. However, because Gambit’s powers were flaring out of control, he had Sinister perform an operation to lower them to normal levels.

This bio also says that at one stage Gambit goes back in time and had Sinister reactivate his powers.

So yeah, he gets to kiss Rogue

IIRC before this retooling I know nothing about, the temporary power transfers lasted in a 1:60 ratio, so that one second of contact lead to her getting the touched person’s powers for one minute.

There was also some oddness in a “Mephisto vs…” various heroes mini-series in which Mephisto was able to capture the souls of all of the X-Men by capturing Rogue’s after she had absorbed all of the X-Men’s powers. WTF?

Sounds like with this “any powers at any time” thing they’ve turned Rogue into a one-woman dues ex machina. Need a telepath? Rogue power-sucked one 13 years ago. Who needs other X-Men with Rogue around?
