I been hearing a lot about grub hub so decided to order some dinner and it didn;t go well at all. Once I get the checkout part and click the button to pay for my food I get a message saying
“sorry we cannot complete your order at this time”
So I called customer service and they could not help me either which was more frustrating. Not only that, I wanted to take advantage of the $10 off first time coupon and not do that. So here it is almost 11pm on a saturday and I am waiting on dinner from a seafood place because of the drama with Grub hub.
Try a different restaurant. We’ve been ordering via Grub Hub about twice a month for the past year with no problem other than one driver who went to the wrong part of the complex.
I tried another restaurant and received the same message that the order could not be processed at this time. It;s not like I didn’t have money in my account so I didnt understand it at all
Why could customer service not help you? Do they simply not have the tools to do so EVER, or were you calling at a time when their tier 2 support was not available?
We order from Grub Hub from home or work all the time with no problems. Are you sure it’s not an issue on your CC part? Have you used it recently got any other online purchases?
Grub hub has super crappy integration with the restaurants, as there is no “state” checked before accepting an order and it is so difficult or easy to forget for restaurants to update some state this is very very common.
It is a perfect example of what happens when you hire people with only ACID style computing and force them to build a fisher price my first website.
Distributed computing is hard, and they failed at it, and they chose to fail at it at the worst way possible which is to provide a bad user experience.
They should not confirm an order until the restaurant accepts the order, and they should work to make that failure happen fast.
All I can say is that they are a fairly good way to find what you want to eat but it is better to just call up the restaurant and order after you find what you wanted. Or use another service which is not as hampered by a generic misunderstanding of distributed systems.
Ya, they are trying to make the fact they have crappy service up with volume…I tried to use them for work meetings a few times and gave up. They kept giving me credits to use that could never be used because of stuff like.
A) It was a slow day and the restaurant was closed.
B) It was a soccer/football/baseball game and the restaurant didn’t deliver on those days.
C) Their system failed to forward the order.
etc…
They will be short lived as they continue to burn through good will without fixing the core issues.
fucking around with grub hub last night my dinner didn’t arrived until almost midnight.:smack: And since I ate so late I know I couldn’t go to sleep until atleast 5am
