I watched it today after buying it first thing this morning.

I think it rocks. There’s lots of cool stuff which makes some of the decisions in the theatrical release make sense.

Lots of cool Ent stuff. Wish I could watch it all over again and not have to pretend to be grown up and do parenting stuff.

I just bought mine about an hour ago. Is there a hidden ROTK preview anywhere on it? I remember there was a TTT preview last year on one of the FOTR discs.

I can’t wait until I have time Wednesday to sit down and enjoy the movie. :smiley:

Gollum’s acceptance speech to the MTV awards is hidden on the one of the movie disks. It’s quite funny (and quite vulger).

I think you insert disk 1, go the chapter menu, arrow to the very last chapter and press Down once more, and another menu item appears. I don’t have my TTT EE yet, so I’m working from something I read online.

I can tell you that you can get to another hidden short (an MTV spoof of Elrond’s council) on the FOTR EE using the same steps.

Oh, goody! I was hoping they’d have it.

I’ll pick my copy up on the way home this afternoon. Suncoast called me Sunday night to taunt me (“The DVD you ordered is in, but you can’t have it `til Tuesday… nyah, nyah.”)

I saw a TTT pictoral companion book at Barnes & Noble a while back and it had pictures that looked like back story about Gollum when he was Smeagul and killed his friend for the ring.
Did this make it into the extended version??

We saw in an ad that both the “extended edition” and a “collector’s edition” of TTT are available. Anyone know the difference?

The “extended edition” is the one that comes in a nice box that looks like an old book. I believe the “collector’s edition” is the extended edition packed in a bigger box also containing a polystone statue of Gollum. I’m not sure what other goodies come with the “collector’s edition”; the statue is the most obvious.

Goodies aside, are the DVD’s in the “collector’s edition” the same as:

  • The extended edition
  • The original release
  • Neither?

The extended and collectors have the exact same DVD content.

Well, the first four are the same. The collector’s one also has a fifth DVD that (I believe) goes into the production of the Gollum statue.
