Someone really should summarize each book of the Bible in four or fewer sentences. If I were a Sunday School teacher, that’s what I would make my students do. Just to see the results. It would be hilarious!

I don’t know if it’s the tedium at work, but lately while sitting at my desk (in my office, thank goodness), I’ve been reciting all the books of the old testament in chronological order, the way we were drilled back in Sunday school. I can keep at a very steady clip until I get to “Daniel”. And then I’m all, “Hosea…Amos…Joel…I mean Joel, Amos…Obediah…” Then I feel let down when I realize I missed “Zacharias”. I always miss that one.

Somebody needs to pray for me.

You could start a project called: Tweet the Book of the Bible.

I’ve never understood why people feel threatened about conservative religious people. They’re praying, not conducting KKK activities.

edit: He didn’t declare a National Day of Prayer. He declared a day of prayer for the nation.

I don’t feel threatened by people like Perry. They just annoy the hell out of me.

I will help the nation by going about my business and not bothering other people by grand-standing and being an attention whore. If Perry and his friends would just do that much, maybe the country wouldn’t be in such a mess.

I don’t claim to be a biblical scholar. Why should I be informed about relatively obscure texts in a religion I don’t follow?

Hell, maybe it’s all a viral web thing, and next week he’ll reveal that his favorite quote from the Book of Joel is something like:

“Yea, verily, thou shalt playeth unto me a song, for thou art the Piano Man.”?

If you don’t know the texts of the Bible, then don’t pretend like you do. And definitely don’t use your lack of knowledge to call someone out.

I think some of you have read what he said a bit overly literally, the link should have made it pretty obvious he knew it really was in the bible.

Not sure why some of you think its so important to know all the books in the bible either. If anything I’d call it an achievement to avoid it given how many attempts are made to ram it down your throat as you grow up.
