(Old) Tying up loose ends in the MMP

What??? Those don’t sound like thumbprint cookies to me. At least not here in the Mitten nor by Betty Crocker. Mom, my Aunt, and my daughter and me all fill the thumbprint indentations with jelly or preserves. We use raspberry preserves. Here’s what Betty Crocker says about Thumbprint Cookies: “Nut-rich . . . the thumb dents filled with sparkling jelly”. At the end of the recipe it says: “Place in thumbprints a bit of chopped candied fruit, sparkling jelly, or tinted confectioner’s sugar icing.”. Additionally, thumbprints don’t have oatmeal in them. At least not in the Mitten nor in Betty Crocker’s Picture Cook Book. So, PA has their own unique version.

Boy, you really do have a way with words.

I don’t remember what model year my Dad’s Ford Galaxie was, perhaps somewhere between '62 and '64. Dad’s name for it was Midnight.

Thanks to each of you who commented on Hubs’ good report on his recent testing (Cat scan, Echocargiogram, Pulmonary Function test). I very much appreciate it! I am so thankful that he didn’t have GvHD in his lungs like the heart Dr thought might be the case. The Pulmonologist said his ‘Out of Breath’ situation is likely due to 1. Anemia-low hemoglobin 2. fluid overload 3. conditioning.

Herald I’m so sorry to hear about your wife’s fall. I know that TBI’s are very serious and I come by that knowledge honestly. My Dad, at 88 and 11 months was jogging to keep up his conditioning as he had a softball game the next day. He tripped and fell and his head hit the cement street pavement. He was in the hospital for 7-1/2 weeks and did not come home. He was going to go into hospice 2 days later.
Will remember your wife in my prayers.

What a day! Looking forward to when I can engage in RDOS activities but that won’t likely be until the new year.

After very quickly sheveling and have a bit to eat, Hubs and I went to Kroger. They didn’t have a number of things on the grocery list but even so, our purchase earned us another 424 fuel points for a total to date of 1,437 fuel points for December.
Hubs was wiped out when we got home so I put everything away then had 20 minutes before I had to leave to take my BF to her eye Dr appointment so I made a quick turkey, muenster on 1 piece of toast topped by lettuce.

Nice drive out to BF’s eye doc 35 miles away. Gave us a chance to have a nice convo. While she was in getting her eyes dilated, I took a nap on the wonderful couch in the waiting area. Haha. Then we went to a Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea since we didn’t think my sister would be home at least for an hour. We had to stop at her house to pick up my parents’ snowblower for our Daughter. I ordered a hot Chai Latte-so good! I had never heard of Sweetwaters; I’m going to have to look into if there is one closer to home.

Just after we had ordered, paid and were standing waiting for our order to be filled, my sister called and said her Bingo finished early and she would be home soon. So, as soon as we got our order, we got back in car and headed to her house. My sister and BIL lifted the snowblower in the back of BF’s car (a Lexus-I didn’t think the snowblower would have fit in my Fusion). Drove to my house, lifted the snowblower out and put behind house so not visible from street. Hubs was taking a nap so I left him a note. Headed to BF’s house to get my car. She also gave me 2 dozen eggs. Her hens, which were new early this year, are still laying like champs, although they are quite small eggs.

Once home started doing dishes and checked with Daughter to ensure the plan was still that she and her friend were coming to pick up the snowblower tonight and having dinner with us. Hubs finally got up from nap an hour later and I drafted him as a Sous Chef to help prepare dinner. He chopped most of the veggies for salads and also the onions and green bell pepper to saute. We had bucatini with chunky veggie spag sauce and pork and angus beef meatballs, salads and broccoli. Oh, Hubs also grated the parm cheese.

Unfortunately it was totally dark when Hubs got up from nap so he didn’t have a chance to check out the snowblower. He asked me a bunch of questions about it and I didn’t have any answers as my sister and BIL offered no information about it. So, we told Daughter that he would check it out tomorrow and she could pick it up on Sunday after mass and brunch. He’s thinking it might need new spark plugs and stabilizer along with some gas. Not in my skill set so he’ll have to do his thing with it.
