Typeface of player names on Mets/Cubs/Expos uniform

Can you help me identify the typeface (font) used for player names on the back of the New York Mets uniform.

Here’s an example from the Mets. But the same typeface was also used on the Cubs and the Expos uniforms (and maybe many others Major League Baseball team uniforms).
