According to the NY Times, it looks like Strom Thurmond’s 28 year-old boy, Strom Jr., is going to be nominated as the next U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina.
Hello?
My opposition is both genetic and professional.
Genetics: 1. Nepotism is a bad way to choose officials. Just look at both Dubya and Algore.
2. I’m no geneticist, but if you’re 28 and your father is 175 (approx.), I think you are likely to have chromosonal damage.
3. Again, I’m not geneticist, but if you’re 28 and your father is Strom Thurmond, I think you are highly likely to have chromosonal damage.
Professional experience: This boy has been out of law school for at most three years. According to the article, he worked for a few years as an assistant district attorney and now is a partner (!) in a Columbus law firm. Gah!! That’s plennnnty of experience to be the U.S.'s legal representative in all federal criminal and civil matters that arise in South Carolina.
But maybe I’m being too harsh. After all, a former co-worker in the D.A.'s office is quoted as saying Strom Jr. did a good job in the “5 or 6” felony cases he handled. Well, that’s plenty of experience. I got friends in the Brooklyn D.A.'s office who handle that many cases in a month. Maybe I should nominate one of them for God.
The worst part is is that it appears Strom Sr. is arranging this so Junior will have something on his resume when he runs to replace his father in 2002, when pa steps down. Just what this country needs - another 143 or so years of a Thurmond groping interns and, oh yeah, “representin’” in the Senate.
Stop the insanity!!
