the woman said she slept with Cunningham at his house in July. I don’t think he’s far enough ahead to survive that.
He is if voters no longer really care about consenting adult relationships. We’ll see.
Cook Political Report has moved South Carolina to “Toss Up”
Many Republicans have privately voiced frustrations that Graham’s campaign didn’t take the challenge from Harrison — a charismatic 44-year-old African-American former state party chairman who tells a compelling story of growing up with a teen mother and being raised by his grandparents in impoverished Orangeburg — seriously enough from the get-go.
[…]
All that has enabled Harrison to blanket the Palmetto State airwaves in a way no Democrat — or Republican either — has ever been able to do. As of Tuesday night, Harrison has spent or reserved time through Election Day on TV and digital ads of upwards of $60.3 million — an amount that’s sure to grow in the final weeks of the race.
[…]
Overall, in the latest Quinnipiac University poll, Graham is underwater (43% fav/51% unfav), an 8 point gap that rose from five points in the same survey just two weeks prior. Eleven percent of Republicans have an unfavorable view of Graham, including 56 percent of women.
[…]
Meanwhile, Harrison has a net favorable rating of +13 (48% fav/35% unfav), and 59% of voters say Harrison cares about average people (a stunning +34 margin) — compared to just 44% who say the same thing about Graham (for a -6 margin).

Ultimately, this race has earned a more competitive rating — underscoring just how fast the GOP majority is slipping away if they have to defend turf like this, and also how much Trump’s numbers have fallen across the board. We are moving South Carolina from Lean Republican to Toss Up.
As I said above , cheating on your wife is a much bigger issue here in the Bible belt than it would be in solid blue states.
Unless, of course, you promise to hurt liberals. Then you’re just an alpha male.
No it’s not (and I’m from Louisiana). They voted for Trump. They don’t really care that much about cheating on wives.
Dems spent years saying Clinton cheating was not an issue even when he pretty much admitted cheating before he won in 92 but it does matter to some moderates that Cunningham needs to win.
I’d assume the religously-oriented Bible people were already voting for the GOP candidate. Roe v Wade and all that. But I could see the overall story making Cunningham look dishonest even to people who aren’t as worried about scripture.
Cunningham’s a goddamned entitled jackass, and I’m furious at him for this. But goddammit, he’s better than the insider-trading Trump flunkie we currently have.
Straight up, I’m worried about this story, but not super worried about it. People have already started voting, and I suspect that not enough people are hearing about his infidelity to make it an incredible danger. Just like Tillis’s stock-dump after getting a COVID briefing isn’t moving the needle, I don’t think this is going to move the needle that much.
I hope. Goddammit, Cunningham!
I think it’s too simple to say that an affair only matters to religious conservatives who were going to vote for Tillis anyway. I think there are plenty of moderate voters who would see an affair as a mark against him, both morally and as an indicator of his judgment. The question will be whether these voters see the other side of the ledger as outweighing this negative.
And I think his current strategy of ducking any opportunity to be confronted on this is nuts. Is he really going to avoid all public appearances, town halls, debates, press interviews, etc. for the next month? It’s not going to “go away” – as we’ve seen this week, each new day brings a new detail that leaks to the press and pushes this back into the headlines again. Maybe he’s just hoping that Trump will suck up all the attention that people have to give to politics, which . . . isn’t an entirely unreasonable position.
Looks like Cory Gardner (R - CO) has backed out of his promise not to vote on a SCOTUS nominee before the election. So glad I can vote against him.
Has Tillis’ COVID diagnosis moved the needle at all, in either direction? Wasn’t he one of the ones infected at the Red Vetting?
^ Bonus points for the Game of Thrones pun.
Can’t take credit for it, but it amuses me.
and now the Army is looking into Cunningham since he’s still in the reserves and adultery is against Army regulations.
Eek! Let’s hope they don’t find out about Ike and Kay Sommersby!
I think for the Army he will probably just quit rather than go through their process
Yes, she did so again this morning on Arizona’s Family. (Not sure which of the two channels I was watching at the time.) Her non answer was – I AM proud of the work I have done for Arizonans while Trump was in office. (She was asked if she was proud of supporting Trump at every single opportunity.)
Oddly, I was called by a pollster while I was watching the debate last night. After demographic questions and two presidential questions, they were all AZ Senatorial questions. I realized it must be a McSalley financed poll when they continued to ask questions like:
Does the fact that Mark Kelley is coming after your guns make you more likely or less likely to vote for him?
Knowing that Mark Kelley’s campaign is financed by eastern liberals make you more likely or less likely to vote for him.
Ect., etc., etc. More than half a dozen, maybe ten questions, none about McSalley. It became obvious they were fishing for which of the unfounded shit they were flinging would stick to Kelley.
After Kelley waxes her ass (military air combat jargon) in the election, since they are both former military tactical aviators, I think they should each be assigned dissimilar fully aerobatic aircraft for some ACM for an hour or so, then after a light lunch switch aircraft and go at it again. On the other hand, they are both a little long in the tooth for pulling aerobatic G’s.
