Ubiquitous! It's in there sommers - MMP

Sleepy. Stupid upstairs neighbours got up and moved furniture around at 7:30.
Happy Saturday, everyone!

I slept in this morning. The power was off for a while yesterday, and I still haven’t reset my alarm clock, so I had no idea what time it was, and I got up when I felt like it. So I got about ten hours of sleep, which is good because I usually don’t get enough sleep.

I’m havin’ Photoshoppy problems this morning (actually, it’s more InDesign, but Indesignny just looks weird). I have to get a newspaper ad done today, and my pictures aren’t cooperating. Did I mention I’m not getting paid to do this? So I’m going to spend my whole Saturday working on this stupid ad, and I get nothin’ for it. And my friend that I’m doing the ad for was really annoying yesterday. I showed him the ad on my laptop, and he started messing with it. Never used Indesign, and, no, you can’t learn how to use it in ten minutes, so hands off before I smack you! Didn’t your mama teach you to “Look, but don’t touch”? I needed a break, so I went to Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen for a nice, greasy breakfast. So that’s my Saturday morning, in a nutshell. Hello? Is anyone out there? Where’d everybody go?

I’m here. We were going go out on the boat, but the weather is just a tad cool and on the threatening side. It would be good fishing weather, but the hubby wants to play, not fish. Actually, I’m kind of relieved, because I have other things I need to accomplish this weekend.

I didn’t sleep well last night at all. I had a horrible nightmare that woke me up at about 1:30, then I had trouble going back to sleep. I finally fell asleep, woke again at 6:00 a.m, drifted back to sleep and woke up at 8:00 a.m. I got out of bed and made some coffee, scanned some of the paper and now I’m cruising the Straight Dope.

I guess I’ll get myself cleaned up pretty soon here and take the daughter to the mall for her formal dress. I also plan to stop at Pier 1 on the way home from the mall.

Frankly, I’d like to just sit on my behind, not go anywhere and just read a good book. But, so much to do, so little time.

I tried to grill last night, but we’re out of propane, so the hubby needs to get more. If he wants beef ribs tonight he’ll have to go get some propane. I’d also like for him to get that old sofa, loveseat and table set out of my garage and to the Goodwill. I somehow don’t think he will do any of this today, though.

Vunderbob, aka Bobbio, I’m sending my best wishes your way for your surgery and recovery. I know you can’t have any beer, but I’ll lift one to you tonight.

I think I’ll go do the crosswords in the paper now. It just feels weird if I can’t do my crosswords everyday.

Wanna trade? I’d rather go shopping for fancy dresses than do what I have to do today. And I don’t really like to shop.

You want to go shopping with a 15 1/2 year old raging ball of hormones? A girl, who like her mother and you, doesn’t like to shop; doesn’t like to try on clothes, and is easily frustrated? What are you smoking?

She’s still in bed, I’m going to have to wake her up soon so we can get ready to go. Wish me luck!

Good luck! Sounds like fun! :dubious: Those hormones make life more difficult–I remember what that was like. I hope you find “The Dress” that is so perfect, it’s not even possible. If I didn’t live so far away, I’d volunteer to take her shopping. A few years ago, I used to go shopping with a 14-year old friend. It’s a lot more fun if you run through the mall singing the theme song to the Animaniacs! But she moved, so now I have to go shopping with people my own age. Which is fine as long as they’re crazy–shopping’s a lot more fun when you’re with a crazy person.

It’s 8:20 pm, I’m watching cartoons, and cooking up a lovely meatloaf. Life is good.

Didn’t do much today, which is pretty much standard for Saturdays. Tomorrow is planned to be malling - not buying for myself, but for everyone else. And then tomorrow night is Eggplant Parmesan. I love to cook.

Yeah, well sorta still here also. Went to the Dr. yesterday and was given a different pain med to break up the routine (not to become accustomed and such) but had a pretty bad reaction. Up most all night feelin’ really weird. won’t be trying that again soon. A bit better this evening, 36hrs later, but not yet all better. Glad to hear others are still here. I like the “watching people walk into glass walls”. I do believe that may have made me feel better earlier today.
Gotta go crash out. Talk at ya tomorrow.

We had meatloaf for dinner - sadly, I lost track of time and it was kinda dried out. Ketchup to the rescue!

My daughter got home Friday, and because of a delayed flight and traffic, she and her dad stopped on the way home from the airport to eat, so they didn’t get here till after 8. But she arrived safely, and that’s what matters. Yesterday, she helped me clear the yellow guest room, assemble the newly- bought second-hand furniture, and unpack some of the boxes that had been in there. Unfortunately, the contents weren’t what I’d expected. I thought my books were there. Instead, they were mostly file folders that my husband has been accumulating. I’m going to have to be the meany and make him sort thru and dispose of some of them.

But the yellow room is now a real guest room, with some boxes in the corners, and the living room is a mess with boxes of file folders and other crap. I’m thinking yard sale, or maybe freebie ads in the PennySaver. So much stuff, and I still don’t know where my boxes of books are - in the basement, I suppose?

Oh, I picked up my last 3 pieces of ceramics - pics to follow, eventually.

w00t! Ceramics!

Dropped off Attacks Things Husband’s present yesterday, and Quasi-Daughter and I ate the strawberry-rhubarb crisp he had made. Yum.

It’s still very hot and sticky here. I hate it. And our idiot neighbours were up again really early this morning, banging around for about an hour. It sounds like they’re dropping bricks. I’m going to make a list of everything they do that I hate, and write a formal letter of complaint, and maybe give a copy to the landlady. We’ve told them to quiet down several times, and they’re being awful.

So it’s 1:30 and I’m sleepy. Dishes, then work, and when I get home at 10:30 I’ll do some tidying and go to bed.

It’s Sunday night, just about 11 - and the MMP is still on page 1. Yay! As for me, I’m watching the Next Food Network Star on Food Network, and thinking I am mighty glad it’s not me on there. Too much pressure - I think I just enjoy cooking for myself.

I have a dehydrated sourdough starter - I’m excited/nervous to re-hydrate & try baking with it!
