I’m hosting lno, Maeglin, and Elenfair for Doperéal.
Shit I can barely type. Anyway…
I’ve never hosted anyone before. I mean I’ve had guys spend the night, but never hosted anyone, let alone three people for three days. It’s not the fact that I’ve never met them - I had no problem going to TorDope in a car with people I’d never met and staying with two others I’d never met - it’s just that I’ve never been the host.
I got all the cleaning done in marathon sessions this week, and the place is no longer worthy of being condemned - it now sparkles (well, not quite, but you know what I mean). I just have to change Bunny’s litter and fix the busted drawers on my cheap IKEA dresser. The dinner reservations have been made.
I’m sure I’ll be fine by the time lno arrives (around 10, “give or take a couple hours” - great, a four-hour timeframe). I’m going to have a beer or two when I get home… I’m drinking coffee in the afternoon - which I never do - so I don’t fall asleep in case he arrives really late.
I can’t go online, as I buzz people in using the phone. So I’ll be relegated to sitting there, watching TV.
I’m shaking, my knees are wobbly… I have generalized anxiety disorder, so this kind of thing causes me to get like this.
Anyway just wanted to share that I’m losing my hosting cherry tonight.
Ugh. I can’t think strai- er, clearly, and I just got a cryptic voicemail at home from a French person with really bad English, which really freaked me out. I pressed ‘5’ and got the number, called them up, and asked what company it was. It was a BCBG store telling me about some new line that’s arrived.
I’m stuck at work until 6 or so, which means I won’t get home until 7:15 or so. I’m sure lno won’t show up at the stroke of 8:00, but still.
Screw fixing the drawers. It’s tedious and difficult to do alone (as is any IKEA assembly). I’ll have lno and Elenfair help me tomorrow afternoon. We have nothing else to do, anyway, so I can make this a Doperéal activity.
I’m just going to change Bunny’s litter, do last-minute spiffing up of the place, and chill - or at least try to.
I hope you guys have fun! I’ll think of you sometime tomorrow as I pass through Montreal on my way to Trois-Rivieres. And no, I don’t think I’ll have time to stop off and say hi, so my first Dopefest is going to have to wait
