Um, cat malfunction [adjusting font size on computer screen]

My cat just decided to lay across my keyboard. Now everything is super huge.

I’m using Chrome. Settings? Yeah right. How do I set it back to normal size?

Try <CNTL> and <->

Try hitting Ctrl and 0 (numeral, not capital O) on your keyboard at the same time. It should restore the default size. I believe it works for all browsers.

One side of the mushroom makes you bigger, the other side makes you smaller.

CTRL along with + or - or 0 adjusts font size in IE and Firefox, so probably works for Chrome too.
[ul][li] Ctrl + displays font one size larger.[/li][li] Ctrl - displays font one size smaller.[/li][li] Ctrl 0 sets display size back to its normal default.[/ul][/li]
This doesn’t necessarily work with all fonts or in all web pages. Depending on how the font size is specified in the HTML code, it will either work or it won’t.

That worked. Sort of. Is this going to stay, or what?

Okay, thank you everyone very much. I hate computer newbs who ask obvious questions but Chrome has no obvious answer for this. I think it’s fixed. Thank you!

Damn cat. He’s like a million years old in human years and I let him do whatever he wants. He’s not long for this world.

If it is your cat itself that has become super-huge, key presses will not work. Your best bet is probably to get out of your house immediately (if at all possible), and leave things to the armed forces.

You have no idea how right you are.

Also holding the Ctl key and using the mouse wheel knob will enlarge and shrink the pages in steps at least in some browsers on a PC. I’m not sure about a Mac.

My old Mac would fire a little electric bolt to chase the cat away. Windows sucks.

Obviously your cat needs glasses, possibly bifocals. That’s the reason for the large type. He should have gotten them long before the “million years old” age. And where’s the pic?

I have a computer with a camera and a phone with a camera. You’d think I’d be right on that, but I feel like I’m a million years old too. I used to be all over this stuff.

This works in my old version of Firefox on Linux too.

I am pleased to report that your cat is not malfunctioning. It is functioning exactly as designed.

I was trying to figure out how the cat had done this. Ctrl-+ makes a little more sense.

Maybe your cat is just getting old? Although I’m not a feline myself, I too started increasing the font sizes on my computer before finally resigning to the bitter fact that I needed glasses.

cataclysmic?

Thanks Colibri. Yeah, I’m getting old too. I think I knew about the ctrl plus minus thing, but forgot. My eyes are going to crap, and now I know how to increase the font size.

The cat, Scooter, is getting old and he’s slowing down. I don’t know how much longer he’s got so I baby him. He doesn’t usually lay on the keyboard, although he does like to lay on top of the mouse so I have to stick my hand under him to move the mouse around. My mouse is a cat.

Even at an advanced age he wants to chase & subdue mice. At least he’s found one he can still handle. Lots of other elderly cats aren’t so fortunate and are *very *frustrated.
